Finn chuckled to himself again, held Poe a little closer, and listened to his shallow breaths the entire rest of the night. He was right about the doctor getting a little terse about joining in his bed and not coming to get him when Poe woke but... worth it.

It was a day or two later before Poe was finally getting out of the medbay. Finn had thankfully slept in between then and now so he was much more alert to walk Poe back, tend to his every need, that sort of thing.

"You're a free man now," he said with a smirk. "First taste of freedom in a peaceful galaxy. What do you want to do first?"

Finn hadn't done anything except stay by Poe's side since the fighting ended. The end still hadn't felt real to him yet, but that jarring realization could wait until later.
