The TIE got off his tail, and Finn gasped in relief at the sudden weight lifting from his shoulders. Poe did it! He was on the cusp of a cheer before he realized that were no other ship readings on him.

He pulled up, away from his approach to the ground, and ducked around in the cockpit until he could see the fire and ship pieces hurtling towards impact. If it had been almost anyone else, the immediate conclusion wouldn't have hit him so fast. "Poe!?" He was already turning the ship around before anyone would have had a chance to respond. But there wasn't a response. There wasn't even static. "No, Poe, talk to me! Poe!"

The ship didn't magically jolt to life. Nothing spectacular suddenly happened. Finn was just helpless to watch as the wreckage crashed into the ground. It couldn't have been more than a couple of seconds, but his A-Wing felt like it took an eternity to fly to the crash site and complete the paltry landing he'd just performed.

Maybe this was the TIE. Maybe Poe was somewhere else and okay. Just like Jakku.

He tore the helmet and harness off, jumped out of the ship, and ran to the wreckage as fast as he could. "POE!"
