The slap echoed, pain blooming in his cheek. But the surprise was far sharper. Damn, when was the last time he'd felt pain?
He stepped back, pulling from her, the sting of rejection almost sharper than the sting of his cheek, but the confusion hit him hardest.
"Okay?" He said, a little dumbly. He wasn't sure what she needed to tell Finn, though something occurred to him, frustration digging into his chest. Did she not want them, if they were together? Because as much as he wanted her - and in those few seconds with her body pressed close he really, really wanted her - there was no way he could possibly leave Finn. This simply was never going to happen, if she expected something with just one of them. It was both, or not at all.
But he was too stunned to get the words out, and just took a step further back, holding his cheek and staring at her.
"He's in the garden, I think," He said, after reaching out for him. Trying to find just where he was, and he was being pulled in that direction.
