Look, he thought he was being subtle. He didn't say it was for sex, okay?? Maybe they just... hung out there and chatted and held hands.
Poe wasn't a subtle God.
He climbed on after her, taking her left side, not because that was where he usually went but just because it was the closest to where he already was. He didn't care.
It would be strange, being in this bed for the first time without laying tangled up with Finn. But it wasn't a bad thing. They could be whole, again, instead of desperately trying and failing to be enough for each other.
He lay down, dark curls spreading around his head like a halo, and looking over at Rey.
"Yeah, trust me. I know just how amazing this is."
Finn quickly followed settling into Rey's right side. This was all very strange for him, too, almost certain now that it was just a very good dream. He'd wake here soon with Poe, the both of them together and alone.
He'd just have to not sleep. Shouldn't be a difficult feat to accomplish.
"I've got an inkling," he replied, realizing she was talking about the bed but not referring to it either. He did, however, move into that subject. "Glad you like it. Just... tell us if you get too warm or something. We'll back off."
The double implication wasn't lost on Rey, but she chose to take it at face value. Finn and Poe were happy to have her back, and she was to. While she knew there was a part of her missing, she didn't realize how much of it was gone from her heart until she was with them again. A huge hole that left her crying alone at night, or dreaming of a ethereal garden that seemed more like it was from a fairy tale than anything else.
"I don't think that'll be a problem. I usually get cold at night." Because she was used to having two people close to her. More heat, more warmth. No more nights of curling up on a sheet and blanket, not when she had two people to hold her.
"But this bed feels like it's made from a cloud. Nothing on earth could compares to it." Literally, nothing. It didn't even make her feel uncomfortable as some other beds tended to do.
One of her hands reached to to Finn, lacing their fingers together while she reached for Poe's hand, silently urging for them to be closer to her. Although her eyelids were starting to feel heavy, she didn't want to fall asleep, not yet.
"If BeeBee wants to hop on the bed, I wouldn't object to it, either." Because that dog was cute and needed love too.
“He probably will,” he murmured. He suspected that the creature had picked up on some of the tension and was giving them room - but it wouldn’t last forever.
He threaded his fingers between hers, squeezing tightly and the curling toward her in his side.
He wanted so badly to kiss Rey that he was already two thirds of the way there before he cause hismself. He diverted, pressing a kiss against her cheekbone instead, then laying to rest only a couple inches away.
"He'll come along when he's ready." Finn assumed much of the same, really. Beebee was probably lurking not too far away, wanting to keep as close an eye on Rey as they did. He'd soon be unwilling to leave her side for even a moment.
For now, Finn kissed the back of her hand and snuggled closer, placing another kiss against her temple.
"I know it's been a long day, my love. I'm glad you're here."
It could be that in the morning the beast would be in their bed, curled up by Poe or on top of Rey, which wouldn't be a bad way to wake up. Nor would a kiss from Finn and Poe be a bad way to wake up either.
Rey gently tugged on Poe's hand, urging him closer to hold her. Yes, they needed to go slow, and it was a risk to have him so close, but she needed him as much as she needed Finn. Especially when when said such sweet words that were enough to break her heart. Tears started to prick at the corners of her eyes, squeezing Finn's hand as she turned her head to look at him.
"I'm glad to be here.." she murmured, a lump forming in her throat. How long had she waited to hear that she was loved?
Rey slowly turned to Finn, closing her eyes as the tears started to fall. Damnit, she had been doing well. She had been doing a good job of keeping her emotions in check, but being in this bed with them. Feeling loved--and having been loved in this same bed...
"I'm sorry we were so late," Poe murmured, letting her pull him in more because he couldn't resist it than because he thought it was a good idea. He curled up against her side, her body warm against the cool silk of his pyjamas. He pressed his face into her shoulder and breathed deep.
Finn glanced over to Poe, helpless and a touch miserable. He hadn't meant to make her cry. But his arms wound around her, holding Rey tight against him and burying his face in her hair.
"We'll always find you, love," he muttered, feeling guilty for just how late they were. What if she walked the Earth a hundred lifetimes before they found her again? What if she felt abandoned this whole time? His heart constricted with the thought but in a far less pleasant way, especially after seeing those scars.
Happy tears. Happy that she was where she belonged. Happy they found her and happy their connection was still there. Finn drew her in, but she didn’t let go of Poe’s hand, burying her face in the crook of Finn’s neck. Is scent calming and welcoming, but made her heartache.
Their words reached her heart and the feelings from the day had broken through. This was where she wanted to be, held by both men in a home built on love and trust. She didn’t have that when she was younger, but craved it nonetheless.
Her tears wouldn’t stop but she refused to outright sob. Years they could’ve had together were robbed from them. Years of memories that they couldn’t create....she mourned for the time they lost and for the time they were apart. While she didn’t have all of her memories, she knew what a hole she left in their hearts.
She didn’t let go of either of them, even drawing Poe’s hand towards her to drape over her side.
She pulled his arm across of her, and he took the hint easy, wrapping it around her and then pulling himself closer against her, until it was like his body was meant to fit in like this at her side.
And it was.
He leaned in, pressing his lips to her cheek to steal the salt of her tears away.
"We've got you," he whispered against her skin. "We're not going to let you go."
Finn wanted to kiss her tears away, too, but was too worried she'd feel all the negativity filling him. Instead, his hand brushed against her cheeks, wiping away the ones Poe couldn't reach.
There was a slow nod from Rey, continuing to hold onto Finn with Poe holding onto her. It was amazing that their bodies all fit together so well. Little by little, she relaxed in their hold, long enough for her fall asleep.
For the next few hours Rey continued to sleep, holding onto both men. At some point she pulled away to get into a more comfortable position, but she still sought out both. Being near them wasn’t enough, she needed to hold them or be held by them.
Poe didn't sleep. He couldn't. He tried to pretend for a while, but...
It was a blissful kind of agony, being so close to her, and the longer she slept, the longer his mind wandered, and soon he'd gotten himself completely worked up again. If this had been thousands of years ago, he would have let her wake up that way, with his hardened length pressed against her hip and slowly grinding until she laughed at him and slipped her hand between them. But he didn't dare do that, now.
When she finally pulled away, still half asleep, he took that opportunity to slip from her grasp and stand up. His pyjamas were tented almost comically, and he glanced back at the two of them - as if to check they were asleep - before slipping away out of the room.
Finn didn't sleep either. He pretended for longer than Poe did, though, barely cracking his eyes open as the other man left. Whether or not he tricked Poe was up in the air, but Finn didn't really care, anyway.
Now with his eyes open, he held Rey for a while longer, trying and failing to quiet his mind. After a long while of feeling her sweet breath against his skin, Finn gave up and gently raised the back of her shirt. He saw the edges of one pale scar, enough to confirm what he'd seen before, then rubbing her back as he let the cloth go again.
He had to tell Poe. He could not tell Poe. The other would be furious, jumping to conclusions. These marks could have been from anything.
But they were ultimately from the fact that they weren't there. That's what hurt the most.
Though he knew that Poe needed him right now, he couldn't let himself leave Rey's warmth. Not after coming into their lives again after so long away and not after this revelation. He stayed where he was for hours, waiting quietly and holding her close.
Rey felt the bed sip from Poe’s movement, but not enough to stir. Normally, she was a light sleeper, but being with both men had made her feel safe enough to slip away into the darkness of sleep. She stayed asleep for a few more hours until her body was rested enough.
The young woman started to stir, her hand reaching for Finn’s again, and the other searching for Poe’s.
If Finn asked her about the marks he saw, she would be honest with him—them. It wasn’t something she was ashamed of, maybe embarrassed because she was a bit self conscious about her body. Then again, most women were. She had a difficult upbringing but it made her who she was.
“Mm?” She stirred, opening her eyes, catching Finn’s image. Without thinking , she moved closer to him.
“...time?” Rey asked in a soft voice. Was she waking up late?
Poe hadn't come back. At least, not until his outstretched mind alerted him
that Rey was stirring in the bedroom. He was still frustrated - he'd had no
success in taking the edge off, and had given up to go and run with Beebee
through the gardens and down into the halls of the dead, moving faster than
any mortal being should or would. He vaguely had the idea to just shed his
current mortal form, but... That would make things complicated, and he
liked this one. He was just worried that it was making him difficult to be
around.
As soon as Rey stirred, though, he was there - appearing in front of the
door and watching the two of them on the bed, his heart clenching. He loved
them so much.
His eyes flickered open again when Rey stirred and a little smile appeared on his face despite all his thoughts from the night before. "I think it's early morning on the surface," he replied but wasn't sure if Poe had altered time on his own or not. It wasn't like Finn had been preoccupied by time in the last several centuries.
His smile grew a little wider when Poe returned, but Finn probably just looked more exhausted than when he had left. It was clear neither of them had slept, but they didn't need it. That said, Finn kinda thought they could both use it.
He kissed the top of Rey's head, gentle in waking her up more.
“Mhmm.” Rested yes, but she still felt....anxious? Or maybe she was feeling something else? An aching, a yearning to be close but unable to—oh wait, was that Poe? Her sleepy mind couldn’t say for sure but at least she was holding Finn and hadn’t slept the entire day away.
“Okay..” she murmured, bringing a hand to rub her eyes, trying to clear away any remains of sleep.
Without thinking, she titled her head up, lips brushing along his jawline for a kiss. Something she used to do whenever they were in bed together.
Poe had no real desire to wake Rey up any faster, just sitting on the edge
of the bed and letting his fingers trail over the soft fabric. He wished he
was more like Finn, sometimes. Finn looked tired, sure, but otherwise he
seemed utterly happy just holding and being held.
"There's no rush," He murmured. And then, he had a thought. If she was used
to living as a mortal... "Are you hungry?"
Finn's smile turned warm, nearly forgetting the thoughts and guilt that had been plaguing him. He didn't want to wake Rey any faster either, languishing in her lazy comfort. Like many of the other moments over the last day, it made the years feel like minutes and had his heart melting.
But oh yes! Food. He hadn't thought of that. "We can get anything you want. And you can wake whenever you want." Yes, he looked forward to spoiling her all over again.
Though one of his hands smoothing over the bedclothes, reaching out for Poe. He felt bad for letting him be alone last night but couldn't really say he regretted it. Finn couldn't imagine leaving Rey's side when she wanted him there. Not yet.
"I could make something...if you want." It wouldn't be hard. She knew how to cook beyond making instant ramen and little dishes. Not that she was great at it, but it was decent. She was still thinking as a mortal, still grounded to the earth as humans were. It would give her the chance to find something for all of them to enjoy, and give Poe and Finn time alone.
She could feel an echo of what Poe's feelings and it was starting to make her want to give in. To lavish Finn with more kisses and let her hands wander over his body before turning her attention to Poe. But, they should go slow. They needed to go slow for her to acclimate and get her bearings...
But damnit! She was starting to feel aroused, not that she was going to say anything about it.
"If you know of a market nearby, I can go and find things for us.." she explained, pulling away from Finn to stretch out her arms, feeling a few places pop. That felt nice. One hand moved up to brush her hair away from her face, probably a mess by now, not that it mattered much.
"Give you two time to yourselves. I don't mind, honest."
"I don't think I could pry Finn from you if I tried, and I don't particularly want to try," He replied, a lopsided smile pulling at the edge of his lips. He didn't reach for Finn's hand but he did slide a leg in his direction, letting the man's finger tips brush his ankle.
"But I admit I would be... very interested in watching you make something. We don't tend to indulge in mortal food often on the surface. When we feast, we feast down here."
Sometimes there were souls involved? He decided not to mention that part.
He could feel that gentle curl of Rey's arousal in his gut, and a little relief slipped down his spine. She felt it too. She had to.
Finn felt her happiness and arousal, too, making his smile just that much wider. She was already so comfortable with them. Even if she didn't remember every detail, their Rey was with them now.
"You don't have to cook, but I'd love to learn from you if you want to. And-... Well, Poe isn't wrong. I also understand if you want a little time alone, though."
It would give them a chance to take Poe's edge off and talk about what he'd seen. He was still debating if he should mention it since it wasn't his to tell but... he had to.
Oh yes, she felt that, and felt it was starting to grow. It wouldn't be surprising to learn that Poe was a passionate lover. As much as he liked to rush things, he didn't rush love making, not unless the evening called for it. She'd get there soon enough. For now she was happy to simply be with them.
"I'd like that. I'm not a great cook, but I know what I'm doing--more or less. We could learn together." There were still a few things that she didn't know how to do, but it was all about experimenting and adding the right combination of flavors.
"I think some time alone would be fine. Shouldn't take more than hour to find what I'd need. If.." her gaze turned to Poe. "You wouldn't mind making the stairs for me to come and go." Because she honestly didn't know how she'd leave honestly. An hour for her to find what she'd need, and Poe could make time flow slowly here, enough time for him and Finn to do as they wished...
And fuck, her eyes drifted down to Poe's lips, wanting to feel them on her skin again. Fuck, damnit, bad mind! Bad Rey! She ducked her head slightly and began to climb out of bed to grab her clothes from her bag.
"I can make stairs for you whenever you wish," He replied, but he watched her gaze dip to his lips and he couldn't help but wet them when she did, his tongue running over his bottom lip. He felt a pulse of arousal down to his groin when he felt a spike of her own arousal. Torture. Torture? This was torture. It was delicious torture but still torture.
When she went past him, he reached out just enough to let his fingers graze over her thigh as she moved, almost as if by accident.
"We could, of course, just all stay here," He said, a little leisurely, the hint of a smile pulling at his lips. "Food can always wait."
