SORRY I BEEN AWOL TODAY my brain has gone into storm prep mode and won't leave lol
ANYWAY lina said she mentioned it but yeah halifax is getting hit by a cat 2 hurricane tomorrow and they're expecting a lot of power outages so there's a chance i might disappear for a while
i'll give lina my phone number so that she can check in if she likes and pass the word on
cross your fingers that i just show up sunday morning like 'well that was significantly less interesting than anticipated'
STILL ALIVE I PROMISE oh my god the last two weeks have been nuts BUT IT'S THANKSGIVING WEEKEND UP HERE so i have a little time
namely:
1. did we want to thread out finn telling poe about rey 2. did we want to thread poe meeting rey for the first time and is this going to be via kidnapping LMFAO
So....random idea, cause I don't have enough of them...
For the reincarnation thread, just date nights with Rey and Finn, or Rey and Poe, or Finn and Poe, trying to adjust to living together again. Or doing modern things to fit into the world again...
Rey taking Finn and showing him around her uni campus.
Rey taking Poe to a movie...
Poe and Finn visiting the ocean and fun times there.
The three of them visiting the moon.
Or all three of them at a bar trying not to flirt with each other, and Rey unsure of what the fuck she's doing.
It had been thousands of years since they last laid eyes on her. Trying to move on with their eternal life without their goddess had been a trial. There had been bouts of depression and grief and anger, words exchanged between the remaining pair that neither of them really meant. Eventually, horrifically, they'd gotten used to being the only ones left. Grateful, even, that they still at least had each other. For some time, things had almost been okay.
There had still been a murmured hope between them that she would someday return. Finn wasn't sure if he ever truly believed it.
Yet here she was. It was her. He knew it was her. There had been many that held a striking resemblance over the years, but this was really her. Their third, their goddess, their Rey.
He hadn't been shocked at the sight of anything in a very long time, his mind flitting away from the absurd kidnapping plan Poe had come up with. He completely forgot about how crazy that sounded once he laid eyes on her. And here, in the open, she could see him, too. He didn't notice... or care. He watched her from a moderate distance with stunned, wide-eyes as if watching a ghost.
Visiting a temple had been on Rey's list since she stepped foot into the country of Greece. She still couldn't believe that she was here, in the place where philosophy, poetry, math, and literature had been created from. So many stories, so many places of interest, and so many eateries to try, it was enough to make the young woman feel giddy and overwhelmed. It had been a stroke of luck that she managed to snag a coveted spot in the study abroad program that her university offered.
She worked her ass off for that essay, and had enough recommendation letters that showed she was a strong candidate--and funding came through so she wouldn't starve to death out here.
For once in her hard life, there was a silver lining and she was so humbled and grateful. She made sure to complete enough of her work to cover two days worth of fun, and day one was visiting the temple. She tried not to look like a tourist, managing a side satchel that had her water bottle, her journal, pens, and map. Okay, she looked like a student, but better than a tourist.
The young woman had her hair up in a messy bun, writing down a few things when she felt a pair of eyes stare at her. She didn't know why this place felt...holy? Or nostalgic? Maybe because she read Homer's Odyssey one too many times, or knew most myths by heart now. Either way, she felt someone's gaze on her, prompting her to look up at shoot a confused look toward them...
And after realizing how stunned they looked, turned away to head out of the temple.
Tomorrow was going to be a busy and heavy day for Rey. It was the day where she'd agree to return to the mortal realm and welcome the season that they depended on the most; spring. The chance for new life to grow. For day light to come and bring about change, pushing away death for another year. For the next few months, she would be gone from her husbands' bed and tend to her duties. Bless the lands, attend the festivals held in her honor, and go about her merry way until it was time for her to be reunited.
It didn't get easier as the years went on. There was still the same feelings of anxiety and restlessness, wanting nothing more than to get everything over with and then head home. Honestly, she really should talk to her priestesses and followers to simply have one full day to mark spring and leave it at that. But no, Demeter wouldn't be pleased and it had been enough of a fight to get this far.
However....this year was different. Word had spread far and wide about a vision that the Oracle in Delphi had received. Rey only heard bits and pieces of it, far more concerned with her home in the Underworld to pay attention. Those visions pertained more to the Gods on the surface, nothing happened in the Underworld, least someone wanted to incur the wrath of the three of them. Hell hath no fury like the Kings and Queen of the Underworld.
So, for now, she was preparing herself in her room and writing things down for Poe and Finn to help them deal with the months of separation. Little love notes to cheer them up, scattered about their home for them to find when they needed them. Other notes pertaining to the the garden (new flowers, where they could possibly be put), and where she had other flower crowns for the souls of children who died too soon. Rey finished the last note before getting up from her writing desk, leaving quill, parchment, and ink alone in favor of leaving her quarters to go to their shared living space.
She wanted to crawl into their bed and spend one last night in their embrace. Her long, soft brown hair cascading down her back in soft waves. A flowy bronze dress that was comfortable, and easily pulled off to sleep nude or for fun.
She only hoped neither of them were still working, or passed out from the late hour of the evening.
Finn had worked long and hard but he hadn't focused on a moment of it. Their Rey was about to leave them again. He tried to be more upbeat, tried to save his grief for after she was already gone, but it seemed to be welling up early.
He knew that she was preparing and that it was important, so after he was done with his duties, Finn took a seat near her door and waited patiently.
When she came into the room, it was like life itself and walked in. Finn relaxed and smiled up at her, trying not to dwell on the fact that she'd soon be gone. She was here now so what did the future matter?
"Hello, love," he said with a soft smile, unfolding himself and rising from his seat to hold her hand and press kisses to her arm. "You look lovely." She always did. He hoped his repetition didn't dull the compliment over time.
Mortals had tales and stories for the deities they worshipped and served. Some deities required tribute, while others only needed praise. Then there were those gods or goddess who didn’t ask for anything. Rey was one of them. She was known as Kore, or Persephone to the humans. But, she was mostly known as Demeter’s daughter. That was her claim to godhood, along with flowers—creating life from nothing. No one knew much about her, something Demeter was proud of.
The older goddess did not want her daughter to gain much attention. She didn’t want Rey to become the object of someone else’s desire—mainly Zeus and his brothers. The goddess had to protect her child at all costs. As soon as Rey was old enough, she was went to live with Artemis, trained to hold her own. Trained to protect herself and be wary of those who were not her family. By that Demeter meant herself, Artemis, and the forest nymphs. Anyone, especially men, were not to be trusted.
But, growing up under Artemis’ care wasn’t all it seemed to be. As kind as the goddess was, that kindness was shown in different, strange ways. How to survive in the desert with little food, or weaponry. How to out run a pack of wolves....how to blend in with her surroundings and how “beneficial” solitude could be. Things that would be considered very strange by mortal standards, but Rey went along with it. She believed if she was good enough, Demeter would want her around more...
Eons passed and after her training was completed, Demeter still kept her distance, telling her daughter to find her “purpose” or calling. Which was a bunch of crap to Athens young goddess, but...she did as she was told. She went out into the fields during the day, tending to different plants, trying different combinations that could aide mortals (as they were so fragile) or help the earth itself.
Sometimes, the nymphs would come, try to engage with Rey to play but she was focused on her work. Focused on doing what Demeter wanted, even if it meant living apart. It would be worth it in the end....wouldn’t it?
It wasn't very often that Hades walked the Earth. When someone important was to die, it made no difference to the Underworld. A King in life was equal to any other soul in death. Even in rare events of mass deaths, there was little need to leave. The souls came to them so what did it matter?
Yet, as of late, the surface had been calling to at least one half of Hades. The coldness of the Underworld, the loneliness it brought, was usually an easy confrontation with his lover by his side. Even when times were busy (they always seemed busy), they were still together. It was enough for Finn but he couldn't deny how cold it all sometimes felt.
He liked the surface. He liked seeing souls as they were meant to be, not how they were when being put to rest. He loved life. Honestly, watching it unfold made him appreciate his position all the more and gave him a much larger sense of duty, even if he wasn't exactly supposed to be here.
Rarely would he see someone like him. There had been a few encounters which he calmly walked away from but not very many. Rarer still, would he see another god that he didn't even know. He knew them all, yet this woman was clearly like him. Well, not like him. She created what he kept safe after death... Yes, he'd been watching her. It was the only way to figure out who she was without confrontation. Try as he might, he didn't know her.
She looked sad. For someone who created so much beauty in the world, she should never be sad or seem as lonely as she was.
Finally, after five days of observing, he decided to approach. Finn walked through a field she had created, careful to keep his touch gentle to the flora and fauna all around him, passing against every life and letting it flit between his fingers to continue its purpose. He stopped a distance from her, a dark figure in an even darker chiton, nearly a shadow against the sunny landscape much like his other half.
Finn practically floated back into the Underworld, buoyed with the knowledge that he'd just made a dear friend. In no time at all, he was seeking out Poe, hoping that the other was done with his duties for today.
When he did find him, Finn met him with a kiss before doing anything else. "I met someone on the surface."
He couldn't remember going so long without seeing Finn. They did wander off and do their own things, sometimes, but he was used to seeing Finn pretty much every day, for most of it.
Though. Who knew what time really meant, down here.
When he heard his lovers voice he smiled, some of the bitter weight of the days judgements slipping from his shoulders. He was witness to the worst of humanity, much of the time, and the ones that he had dragged down into the depths of hades today were worst than most. He wanted nothing more than to utterly forget their wretched existence.
So when Finn gave him a kiss he warmly returned it, even if he looked tired.
"Sounds like you had a far more enjoyable day than I did," He replied, sliding an arm around his lover's waist. "I didn't realise you'd been up there." Finn got away with going to the surface more often than he did. Poe assumed Zeus and the others turned a bit of a blind eye to the kinder edge of Death.
He'd built her a quick room, first. Off the the banquet hall he'd built the day before. Something functional so that she could disappear in there if she wanted and not have to talk to either of them for the rest of the evening. And then he'd disappeared himself.
Now, he was out on the plain, around the other side of the palace. His chiton was unhooked from his shoulders, the top hanging loosely around his waist with the rest of the skirt, his chest bare and glistening with exertion. Could he have done this without using any physical force? Sure. But it wouldn't have been satisfying. It wouldn't have helped. So he let himself feel the earth fight against him as he grunted, raising a long, flat, stepped foundation out of the rock below. The columns came next, the gun-metal grey stone grinding up into the air, and he click his tongue as he felt the weight of it in his spine. What he wanted was to fight - but training would not satisfy him, and going to pick a fight with someone on the surface would definitely make things worse. So this was the only option.
The building itself, as it rose, was beautiful. Poe had a dark, stark sense of aesthetics, but there was a strange softer edge to it. Curves where there shouldn't be any, gentle slopes of stone that would be impossible on the surface. Most of it was a dark grey, but then he would trace lines of silver through the walls like fault lines.
For some reason, he made the silver into trees. Trees had never been a decorative theme before, but that one Rey had made earlier had made Finn so happy while it was alive. So he traced silver trees in rock that would never die.
It had been a very long day and possibly night? The hours blends together and without the light of the sun to dictate how much time has passed. It could have been a few hours or a day. She wasn’t sure, but she was still upset too. Her anger wasn’t directed at Finn or Poe, but the situation they found themselves in.
When she was upset, she was able to run or walk or climb trees. Or, she could force herself to focus and create something, however, she wasn’t in the mood for it. Instead, she went out, walking around the castle grounds and trying to take her mind off the mess they were in.
She stumbled upon the other half of Hades, Poe, building and constructing pillars and other things. Power and strength combined. He was handsome, but what caught her attention more was how he was creating trees from the silver metal. Rey could’ve taken it as a mockery of her craft but, he was taking time with the detail of the tree. It was quite interesting to watch.
“....you’re very good at that,” Rey called out in a soft voice, not wanting to startle him.
It was a good plan, all things considered. Or it could have been, if Poe was at all good at taking things slowly.
He did try, though.
He took several hours to go and just think about how to approach her. But the more he thought about it, the more his heart got all tangled up, and the more his imagination was running away with him. He sat under her tree and ran his fingers over one of the orange leaves she made for him again and again.
It was a good plan. It was. If she married them, they could give her complete freedom. Her mother wouldn't be able to tell her what to do or where to go. He wouldn't even -- He wouldn't even bar her from taking other lovers, if she wanted, having children with - other gods, or other mortals-- He didn't like the idea, it made something squirm uncomfortably in his chest -- but the last thing he wanted to was imprison her. Surely he could get that across? And maybe, if they helped her gain her freedom, she would see Finn the way that Poe saw him, and fall in love, and make him so happy--
He swallowed, looking up at the tree. Surely there was a way to prove to her that they wanted to make that effort, for her? Something he could do to show that it wasn't all words--
Hours later, he had it. He was exhausted - he'd never been this tired in all existence, and it showed. The curls that usually floated and bounced perfectly from his forehead were pressed to his skin. He was breathing hard, his hands shaking a little as they clutched his hard won prize, searching through the halls for her.
"Rey?" He called as he came up to the doors of her rooms. "Rey, if I may speak with you--"
Rey didn’t have a clue to what Poe and Finn were doing. After creating the field, the flowers, the tree and having a long and draining conversation with Poe, she went back to her room to sleep. Soft sheets that hugged her body and a bed to support her. Though, she missed the feeling of grass tickling her skin, or the wind caressing her skin.
She managed to sleep for a few hours and woke up not too long ago. Long enough for her to clean up her appearance and look decent. Her mind was still trying to process what she and Poe had talked about, how they would deal with Demeter...but her mind trailed back to the shock she felt with him....and with Finn.
It was a mystery to what it meant, and forced her to search her feelings. A rather uncomfortable subject but, she was managing to get somewhere until she heard her name. She got up and opened the door to her room, the one Poe created for her.
“Yes—!!” Her eyes went wide seeing Poe looking worn down. Had he kept working on that new wing?
Rey was still getting used to the new life she had. So many things happened within a matter of weeks; going to Greece on a scholarship to study abroad, finding her family--her lovers, and learning so much of her past. It was overwhelming, and it all sounded crazy, but they were making it work. She had gone from not having a family to having one. The pain and ache she felt from being disconnected from the people who loved her, and knowing she had been all along...it was hard to believe.
But it felt like the piece of her that had been missing was there. Poe and Finn had come into her life and filled in the gaps and cracks years of loneliness had left her. She was still trying to get the hang of being part of a 3 person marriage, unsure if she should come between them, or if they wanted privacy to be their own couple, but she was learning. It hadn't clicked for her just yet, that was she wasn't the addition to the relationship, but an equal part of it.
While they did go out together, all three of them, she thought it would be a good idea to go out on smaller dates, between two people, so she could get to know Poe and Finn all over again.
She plopped down next to Finn on their spacious bed, curling around him and draped one arm over his side.
"Would you like to explore more of a city, or go see a movie? What would you like to do?" she asked, knowing full well they could go to any city they wished, England or Greece or anywhere. He could want to do something positively mortal and modern, but that was okay with Rey. Her memories were coming in a little at a time, but she wanted to spend time with Finn, just the two of them.
Finn smiled, snuggling close to Rey. He often didn't initiate contact like this, giving Rey the freedom to choose if she wanted to come to him or not. When she did choose this, though, he could scarcely be happier.
Things had been getting better and better with time. Perhaps they didn't even have to adhere to the six-month rule anymore, either. A paltry consolidation for their separation but one Finn would take gladly. Though he did often think of Demeter, wondering if she knew of Rey and if they should tell her, but his mind would quickly move on to something far more important to him.
Like this. Just being close.
"Exploring, I think. I greatly enjoy movies, but I'd rather spend time talking with you instead. If that's all right?" Films were very interesting and exciting to him, just like many other human marvels, but there was a time and place to sit quietly and watch these shows. He didn't want that now. Every moment with Rey was too precious.
Today was going to be an interesting day. Honestly, Rey had been excited and nervous about spending time with Poe. A date with him was something she had been waiting for, not that she had to wait very long, but she was waiting for it like any excited girl would be. Yes, he was her husband, as was Finn, but she was nervous too. Her memories were trickling in here and there. She was starting to get the bigger picture, but the details were still fuzzy.
She wondered if Poe always had such a strong, passionate and 'fuck me' aura about him. It was impossible to deny, and Rey found herself on the verge of giving in several times. She knew she wasn't ready to deepen the relationship yet--not to the levels of intimacy they had before. They had made leaps and bounds, kissing, hand holding, spooning, and getting....hot and heavy with one another, but she wasn't ready yet. The same with Finn. Being intimate was a whole other level, and part of Rey....it still felt like all of this was a dream, and soon she'd wake up in a bed by herself clinging to hopes and dreams that would never come true.
For now though, she was focused on approaching the other man who she shared the honor of calling her husband.
"Ready for our date?" she asked, unable to hide the excitement in her eyes, or in her smile.
"We can do anything we like--nothing illegal, of course, but we can do anything we want more or less."
Tatooine. He had nothing against Tatooine. In fact, the place was always nostalgic for him, thanks for the stories he'd grown up with about Leia, Luke, Han. This particular visit was a little solemn, for him, but he stayed back while Rey made her goodbyes.
He'd made his own, before. He'd probably keep making them, to Leia, for a good while to come. But he didn't talk about it, much. What was there to say? They'd all lost people.
He'd agreed to this mission readily, but being with just the two of them and BB-8 for the last couple of days had only really managed to remind him constantly of the unspoken thing still laying between the other two. He wondered if they'd managed to talk about it. If they'd stolen a moment away.
He kept meaning to try to give them space to talk, but then that dark little flare of jealousy would rise up again and he'd find himself shoving himself between them, loudly and obnoxiously most of the time. It was great. Super great. Super cool. Good job, Poe.
It also meant that he and Finn hadn't had any real time alone together, either, or he probably would have asked the man again. Which was for the best. He was getting a bit ridiculous, there.
This was the first time in the last couple of days that Rey wasn't directly with them, but she was still there - just a little ways away, silhouetted by the twin suns. She was beautiful, Poe thought to himself, a little bitterly and a little wistfully at the same time. He could hardly blame Finn. He could hardly blame either of them.
Just every time he tried to think about them together, him outside and apart from them, it twisted up his insides something fierce.
He cleared his throat. "Come on, Rey," he called over the sand. "We should get going. The Hutts are trying to regain control in this area and I don't want to run into them."
taking a couple of headcanons with leia, dont mind me
Finn didn't- shouldn't have anything against Tatooine. It wasn't Tatooine's fault that it was another desert planet. No matter how many worlds he'd been to, desert planets still managed to rub him wrong. But at least his mind wasn't on any of that.
He should have been thinking of Leia. He hadn't known Luke, really, aside from stories he'd heard. But Leia had been his leader, role model, almost... like a parent might have been. Also, his confidante, though they never explicitly mentioned the thing they shared. Which is what he was really thinking about.
Poe had been obnoxious the last couple of days but in a far too obvious way. He was still wondering about Finn's secret. At this point, Finn almost wanted to keep it to himself out of spite. But he couldn't keep it from either of them much longer. They were going to find out eventually, Rey especially. Having him just come clean would be best for everyone. It would be nice to know why Poe was acting so weird, though. Hadn't he kept the whole Spice Runner thing secret? Why couldn't Finn have some of his own?
The annoyance lifted when he heard Poe's voice call out to Rey. Finn was in the cockpit, looking out over the homestead and watching Rey do what she must. A little smile came to his face, elated again that the fight was over and they were all together and safe.
He left the cockpit in silence, heading to the loading ramp and stopping at the top. Stars, he loved them both so much, and they were both beautiful in the light of the setting twin suns. Finn leaned his shoulder against the wall and just watched, idly hoping they didn't instantly start bickering considering Poe's mood lately.

Oh, I love this idea. They've been waiting for her for thousands of years. ♥ Would she remember them? I love the idea of either direction, tbh.

Goddess Reincarnation Modern AU

Weird. So weird.

FLASHBACK

Finn and Rey

"Who are you?" So much for pleasantries.

Finn/Poe Talking About Rey
When he did find him, Finn met him with a kiss before doing anything else. "I met someone on the surface."
That's a greeting, right?
no subject
"Who did you meet?"

Goddess AU: Poe/Rey Take Two
Now, he was out on the plain, around the other side of the palace.

Goddess AU: Poe tries to Woo Rey with Fruit

“Do you need to sit?”

Cute date: Finn

Cute date: Poe
Post TROS
The Hutts are trying to regain control in this area and I don't want to run into them."
taking a couple of headcanons with leia, dont mind me
He should have been thinking of Leia.
