"We can go now," Finn said, leading her towards the doorway and dark stairs beyond. "We'd hate for anyone to worry about you."
Like before. Though Finn had felt bad for their grief, they also wouldn't let Rey do as she pleased. This was, hopefully, different.
"You can get your stuff now and we can spend tonight and tomorrow together." Poe would just have to wait for more intimate times, sorry. "Would you like us to go with you?"
When Poe's hand slipped out of hers, she wanted to reach back and grab for it. She didn't want the feeling of wholeness and togetherness to fade. While she would still feel him, it would be an echo, a phantom. It wasn't the same. But what he did next was so impressive and mind boggling and Rey had to tell herself now wasn't the time to ask questions.
Later...later she could ask more questions. Like, after getting some sleep and process everything. Still...that was flippin' cool.
"Yes," she answered immediately, squeezing Finn's hand as he lead them towards the stairs. She looked back at Poe, tilting her head at him. He had to come too. And gosh, she felt so giddy heading back to the Hostel to get her things.
"But spending time together...that sounds amazing." For the first time, she wouldn't go to bed feeling lonely, feeling misplaced and yearning for someone near her. Excited to come back to the Underworld, she began to walk a little faster, going up the stairs with a bit of bounce in her step.
The door up at the top should, hopefully, lead to the Hostel. A shabby place that was more of a hole in the wall that offered bunk beds and a kitchen that not too many people used. Really, the place could use a few upgrades, but hey, beggars couldn't be choosers. There were a few people moseying about, but no one that Rey knew.
"If you two wait right here, I'll be right back. My room's upstairs, I can go grab my things."
The door was right around the corner in a little alley way, and as soon as they stepped out on the street, it was there. Poe wasn't impressed, when he saw it - the shabbiness of it was almost insulting when it came to his wife. His wife was beautiful and strong and powerful - the fact that she'd been here instead of with them left a very sour taste in his mouth.
"We'll wait," He agreed even though he didn't completely want to leave Rey's side. It might also alert her friend, if she were to suddenly show up in their room with two strange men.
He didn't want to leave her side, but he knew if he was going to stay sane over the next few days that he'd have to sneak away at some point. Just to take the edge off.
Finn happily kissed her knuckles again, letting his grip go limp but not releasing her. He decided to let her do that on her own. "We'll be right here. If you need us for something, just call out, okay?"
The place didn't impress him either, truth be told. It all really came down to how much his Rey liked it, though. If she was happy there, then it was better than any palace as far as Finn was concerned. But she was choosing to come back with them, so... he was plenty pleased.
Hey, for an orphan who grew up with basically nothing, having a bed (albeit an old one) was better than nothing. Rey didn't think she would end up being accepted for the Study Abroad program, so beggars really couldn't be choosers. It suited her needs, and it also had running water. So really, it was serving its purpose.
"Okay. I won't be long." she squeezed his hand again before pulling away to head inside. She instantly checked her phone and saw a few text messages from Rose. Rey began to text as quickly as she could, explaining (as best as one could) that she found family in Greece and was staying with them for the night and to not worry. Which...would probably end with Rose asking for every and any detail that Rey could give.
In no less than fifteen minutes, Rey was back outside with her duffel bag slung over her shoulder.
"I informed the owner that I was heading out. Texted my friend, and things are all squared away. I have everything I need." In a bag...albeit not a big one, but it was all she needed for this trip. Heaven help the pair if both men ever saw her old flat, or worse...the place she grew up in.
Poe watched her go, and was silent for another minute, before he spoke up without looking at Finn.
"Yeah, I know I did that badly, but it's okay, right? It's working out okay."
When Rey returned, he couldn't help but offer her a warm smile, even though people in the street were slowing down to look at Finn and Poe as if they were celebrities that they couldn't quite recognize.
"It's working out perfectly," Finn had said, leaning over to place a kiss near Poe's ear. And it was. He hadn't really expected things to end up going so well. But Rey was theirs and they were hers again. He could hardly complain.
When Rey returned, he leaned over to place a kiss near her ear, too. One bag holding everything she needed-... Perhaps she wasn't much for sentimentality or didn't expect to stay too long with them. Either way, he didn't really think that all of her belongings were in that one bag.
In fact, his mind didn't even remotely consider it as he smiled at her and took her hand again, leading back towards the door silently.
Oh, Finn would be surprised to find how little Rey actually had, but she was making it work.
That warm smile of Poe's coupled with Finn's kiss was enough to make her sigh happily. Her hand easily slipped into Finn's again. Rey picked up on a few of the stares from various people, some of them whispering to one another but she didn't pay it any mind. She was more concerned about getting back and finally be able to relax with both of them.
Home. She was finally going back home with her family and nothing could be any sweeter than this moment.
Finn held her hand all the way back down the stairs only for them to end up in the same garden under the same starlit sky. But he smiled to her and kept walking, leading her and Poe through an archway that didn't seem like it was there mere moments ago.
Tall, dark pillars lined the walls, seeming to go on forever in every direction as they were connected by mirrors. By Finn turned seemingly randomly, finding another archway along the maze leading to another, shorter hall open to the air and the elements off to one side.
It looked like the same great cavern, perhaps the larger part of the bit they had been in before. The purple galaxy swirled overhead, but below seemed to last forever into darkness. The lights shining against the rocks gave it a haunting, surreal, almost beautiful view. Certainly captivating and definitely eternal.
But Finn paid this space no mind, instead pushing open tall, stone doors into... a suite. The purple light with no source shined here, too, but there seemed to a backlight through the walls that was brighter than any star. The room was ornately and grandly decorated, seeming to be carved straight out of the marble. Strikes of gold and silver appeared in several places, every different kind of gem glistening throughout. It wasn't enough to be tacky but just enough to show their power.
The room was also made comfortably, clearly a living area, with other high doors scattered about.
"This place works different than what you know on the surface," he explained with a smile, leading her in by the hand. "Just think of where you want to be and you can go there. We'll do it for you until you remember how. But, uh-" With hardly a glance and a thought, a quick flash of his eyes, the room beyond the right-most door became real. He nodded to it. "That was your quarters from before, if you wanted to see. When we wanted to stay together, we shared a room for all three of us."
He didn't even want to ask, afraid he'd unintentionally pressure her into what he wanted. All he really wanted was for Rey to be comfortable and happy.
It seemed like the space of the gardens themselves had no limit. Everything twisted and turned at the whims of its masters. Poe did say this was different, not the same as the mortal realm. A different space entirely, or plane of existence? It was hard to say, but she was grateful to have Finn leading the way, holding her hand and not letting go. She would've expected the Underworld to feel cold, and bleak, but it was warm...homey even.
Part of Rey wondered if that was because of her influence, or if it was something Poe and Finn cultivated together before they welcomed her into their home. A nostalgic feeling filled her, picturing herself walking down the same halls; sometimes with both of her husbands, other times with BeeBee, sometimes with an armful of flowers, and sometimes feeling utterly frustrated with...something? Maybe the mortal realm? Or the souls that entered the Underworld?
Everything she saw looked ethereal and rich. Nothing like the stories and myths she read about as a child, or in her high school days. They entered the suite and her eyes went wide. So much space. So much ornate and elaborate things that were worth more than anything she owned in her tiny flat. More space than she knew what to do--and that was the living area. A shared space between all of them and she wondered what the bedroom looked like.
"My room?" she repeated, making sure she heard him correctly. Rey turned her head to the door itself, felt something stirring in her, wanting to reach out and touch the door to open it....but the feeling was promptly shut down. She wasn't ready to face her past. She was still grappling with the memories she did have and how to cope with the ones she's had all her life--her mortal life. It was hard to reconcile the two, and doubt was starting to creep in.
Did she really deserved any of this? What had she done for it?
She swallowed those feelings down, squeezing Finn's hand to ground her, reassure herself that things were fine.
"No, not tonight. Tomorrow...I don't think I can handle much else for the day." because she would be looking into the past, and comparing herself to a ghost. Yes, they were the same person, but completely different. Different hardships and challenges--and fuck, what if this really was all a big mistake and fall apart within the next few seconds?
Rey briefly looked down, taking in a quick breath to center herself before looking back up.
"Where can I put my bag? Or change?" Because passing out on a bed would be nice right now. Maybe it would give her the chance to absorb everything and deal with it.
“It’s alright. You can go when you’re ready,” Poe said, secretly glad. He wanted Rey to remember as soon as possible but he didn’t want to let her out of his sight either, if he didn’t have to.
The second question, though, confused him.
“You can put your stuff whereever you like, but... Rey, you only need think about it, to change.”
As if to demonstrate, one second Poe was still wearing his leather jacket and skinny jeans, the next he was wearing a Grecian chiton - a dark black tunic with patterns around the hem in a blood orange that seemed to shift and move in the light.
Finn smiled at Poe's idea, getting excited at the prospect. "Hey, that's right. It's a simple trick. You can try testing it out."
When Rey looked back to him, Finn wore a chiton very similar to Poe's except for the patterns. They held the same shape despite being a pale cyan and seemingly flipped like a mirror.
"If it's too much-" Whether that be the energy it took or trying to wrap her mind around it. "-we could step out a moment." He glanced up to Poe, knowing that neither of them really wanted to leave her side again. At least she was home now, though.
Rey blinked, confused herself wondering what was so wrong with physically changing her clothes until Poe and Finn changed clothes by thinking about it. An act that greatly defied physics. Handy, sure, but it wasn’t something she needed to do. Changing clothes didn’t take much trouble. Literally, ten seconds max.
Least they were willing to head out to let her change.
“That....it’s not that hard to change clothes. It doesn’t take much to do?” Okay, she really couldn’t wrap her mind around it. And better yet, was what she had too....plain? Urgh. Over thinking things.
“I could try...but is that what you’re wearing to bed?” And why did she get the feeling Poe would just grin and say they all could sleep in the nude. Just to tease her but...
She tried to think about it, picturing the pajamas she had with her; flannel cotton bottoms that were super comfy and an old college shirt that had her university’s name on it. She looked like she was concentrating hard and...
Nothing.
“...well...maybe tomorrow we could try again but..” damnit. It wasn’t coming as easy as she hoped. She stepped away from them to place her bags down and started to go through her clothes. She’s had to change in front of others before and honestly it wasn’t a big deal.
“Give me a moment..” she started to kicked off her shoes and strip out of her jeans and into her bottoms. Turning slightly so her back was to them, she changed her shirts and if both paid attention, they may see some fine scars on her back and upper arms a spread out to other areas. Working and falling down a lot in her youth, happened when she worked in Unkar’s junk yard and car garage.
Once she was done, she turned around to show them her pajamas.
He nearly replied that he always sleeps in the nude (when he sleeps), but given that she's going out of her way to talk about bed clothes, he somehow thinks better of it. Plus, sleeping with Rey naked next to him would be a sort of torture, right now.
"That was the idea, yeah." What else would he sleep in?
And since she had originally asked for somewhere to change, he assumed she'd been asking for privacy, and he turned his back as she did so. Of course, this was their realm - he could see any corner of it at any time, if he wanted, so it also required trying very hard not to think about the fact that she was changing near him. A little harder to do.
When she spoke, he turned back around.
Oh, huh. That was new. He frowned a little bit, and then a second later he was in a pair of pyjamas himself - black silk with those same weird mirage patterns in blood orange at the hems.
When Finn realized what Rey was up to, he quickly turned away to give her some privacy, too. Unlike Poe, his ability to not think about it wasn't so great. He pinched his eyes shut and even tried to cover them with his hands but he could still see a glimpse of her back in his mind's eye-
He turned back in shock, all thoughts of playfulness or privacy fleeing from his mind, wanting to confirm what he'd seen. But she was already dressed and happily speaking to them again. Poe even changed clothes to better suit hers, meaning he hadn't seen what Finn had.
It was hardly his place to bring it up. And maybe he didn't realize what he'd seen, his eyes playing tricks, the lighting in the room-
His clothes shimmered and changed to match Poe's except with the hints of blue. He tilted his head down at himself, having not worn this kind of thing before. "What do you think?" he asked Rey, trying to forget what he thought he saw.
"You didn't have to change? It would've been fine." Really, she wasn't sure what gods were supposed to wear or not. Really, it was more about what made all of them feel comfortable, and honestly, pajamas were the best things in the world. Nothing better to simply relax, be under a blanket and read a good book. A pleasure that Rey was barely able to fit in here and there.
But, now that they've changed, she wasn't going to question it any further.
"They look good on you--both of you." A blood orange for Poe was a wonderful color on him, and blue for Finn. Wonderful contrasts to each other, and both suited for their personalities. They seemed to perfectly balance one another, which made her wonder where exactly she fit into all of it. Would it be wrong to ask how they all met? The actual story of events? Or best saved for another day? No, no, another day.
Her eyes flickered to the bed and then back to the two of them.
"Should I just...get into bed, or do you have a side you like...? Or.....?" Yes, she was over thinking. Clearly she needed help.
"I think you get to dictate the arrangement to us, tonight," he pointed out a little wryly. "Technically, Finn and I only sleep when we feel like it. This bed is generally use more to - be together than it is to sleep."
He paused, wet his lips.
"It's been a long time since you were in it, Rey. You aren't beholden to any old arrangements. We just want you to be comfortable."
Be together. Finn shot him a slightly concerned look, not wanting to make Rey uncomfortable again. Telling her what went on in the bed they were all about to pile into was probably... a good way to do that.
He planned to try this one over again. "Right, you get to decide. Where do you want to be? Or want us to be, rather? We don't mind. We just... want to be near."
Rey's eyes went wide for a moment, taken a back by what the bed was actually used for. Not that she was naive! But, to put it out there so bluntly....well...okay then. Nothing wrong with that, but she'd have to get used to that. She chewed on her lower lip for a moment, thinking over her options.
"Then...I could be in the middle and you two decide which side you'd get?" That seemed fair to her. It would make her feel comfortable, more than she should be after meeting both of them and how things went at the temple.
She moved to crawl into the big, luxurious bed, feeling its softness and wow, she could practically sink into it. Softer than any bed she had ever slept on. Like it was almost too good to actually be in.
"Do you have any idea how amazing this is?" A rhetorical question, but it had to be said. She could actually sleep in this and not have a care in the world!
Look, he thought he was being subtle. He didn't say it was for sex, okay?? Maybe they just... hung out there and chatted and held hands.
Poe wasn't a subtle God.
He climbed on after her, taking her left side, not because that was where he usually went but just because it was the closest to where he already was. He didn't care.
It would be strange, being in this bed for the first time without laying tangled up with Finn. But it wasn't a bad thing. They could be whole, again, instead of desperately trying and failing to be enough for each other.
He lay down, dark curls spreading around his head like a halo, and looking over at Rey.
"Yeah, trust me. I know just how amazing this is."
Finn quickly followed settling into Rey's right side. This was all very strange for him, too, almost certain now that it was just a very good dream. He'd wake here soon with Poe, the both of them together and alone.
He'd just have to not sleep. Shouldn't be a difficult feat to accomplish.
"I've got an inkling," he replied, realizing she was talking about the bed but not referring to it either. He did, however, move into that subject. "Glad you like it. Just... tell us if you get too warm or something. We'll back off."
The double implication wasn't lost on Rey, but she chose to take it at face value. Finn and Poe were happy to have her back, and she was to. While she knew there was a part of her missing, she didn't realize how much of it was gone from her heart until she was with them again. A huge hole that left her crying alone at night, or dreaming of a ethereal garden that seemed more like it was from a fairy tale than anything else.
"I don't think that'll be a problem. I usually get cold at night." Because she was used to having two people close to her. More heat, more warmth. No more nights of curling up on a sheet and blanket, not when she had two people to hold her.
"But this bed feels like it's made from a cloud. Nothing on earth could compares to it." Literally, nothing. It didn't even make her feel uncomfortable as some other beds tended to do.
One of her hands reached to to Finn, lacing their fingers together while she reached for Poe's hand, silently urging for them to be closer to her. Although her eyelids were starting to feel heavy, she didn't want to fall asleep, not yet.
"If BeeBee wants to hop on the bed, I wouldn't object to it, either." Because that dog was cute and needed love too.
“He probably will,” he murmured. He suspected that the creature had picked up on some of the tension and was giving them room - but it wouldn’t last forever.
He threaded his fingers between hers, squeezing tightly and the curling toward her in his side.
He wanted so badly to kiss Rey that he was already two thirds of the way there before he cause hismself. He diverted, pressing a kiss against her cheekbone instead, then laying to rest only a couple inches away.
"He'll come along when he's ready." Finn assumed much of the same, really. Beebee was probably lurking not too far away, wanting to keep as close an eye on Rey as they did. He'd soon be unwilling to leave her side for even a moment.
For now, Finn kissed the back of her hand and snuggled closer, placing another kiss against her temple.
"I know it's been a long day, my love. I'm glad you're here."
It could be that in the morning the beast would be in their bed, curled up by Poe or on top of Rey, which wouldn't be a bad way to wake up. Nor would a kiss from Finn and Poe be a bad way to wake up either.
Rey gently tugged on Poe's hand, urging him closer to hold her. Yes, they needed to go slow, and it was a risk to have him so close, but she needed him as much as she needed Finn. Especially when when said such sweet words that were enough to break her heart. Tears started to prick at the corners of her eyes, squeezing Finn's hand as she turned her head to look at him.
"I'm glad to be here.." she murmured, a lump forming in her throat. How long had she waited to hear that she was loved?
Rey slowly turned to Finn, closing her eyes as the tears started to fall. Damnit, she had been doing well. She had been doing a good job of keeping her emotions in check, but being in this bed with them. Feeling loved--and having been loved in this same bed...

He paused, wet his lips.
"It's been a long time since you were in it, Rey. You aren't beholden to any old arrangements. We just want you to be comfortable."
Hence the pyjamas.

He planned to try this one over again. "Right, you get to decide. Where do you want to be? Or want us to be, rather? We don't mind. We just... want to be near."
no subject
"Then...I could be in the middle and you two decide which side you'd get?" That seemed fair to her. It would make her feel comfortable, more than she should be after meeting both of them and how things went at the temple.
She moved to crawl into the big, luxurious bed, feeling its softness and wow, she could practically sink into it. Softer than any bed she had ever slept on. Like it was almost too good to actually be in.
"Do you have any idea how amazing this is?" A rhetorical question, but it had to be said. She could actually sleep in this and not have a care in the world!

He wasn't talking about the bed.

He'd just have to not sleep. Shouldn't be a difficult feat to accomplish.
"I've got an inkling," he replied, realizing she was talking about the bed but not referring to it either. He did, however, move into that subject. "Glad you like it. Just... tell us if you get too warm or something. We'll back off."
no subject

For now, Finn kissed the back of her hand and snuggled closer, placing another kiss against her temple.
"I know it's been a long day, my love. I'm glad you're here."
brb need tissues now.
Fuck. She had missed them so much.
"...I'm so happy you found me."
