There was a brief flash of panic when she pulled back, the rejection he had thought abandoned suddenly hitting him once more. This was it, she was coming to her senses, snapping out of her trance—
But then she was stammering, her face darkening in a flush, and Poe felt his heart thump heavily in relief and in desire.
He still remembered the first night they’d been together. She had been nervous then, too, unsure of herself and her body. Finn hadn’t been much more sure, and Poe- well, Poe had indulged in the flesh before, but never with people he loved.
The fact that he and Finn could now help her discover the joy of her body for a second time...
Arousal sped through his blood, a need deeper than he’d known for a while pooling in gut.
“Relax,” he murmured, letting a warm hand rest on her belly as he glanced at Finn. “You’ll remember.” He leaned in, pressing a warm, open mouthed kiss to her throat as his body slid a little closer.
Finn was frightened when she pulled away, too, his hope teetering but not falling. Poe could be a little forward sometimes. That one instance didn't have to leave all this to ruin.
But instead of being frightened, it was quickly revealed that she was just shy and anxious. He let out a held breath. "We don't really care about experience," Finn offered with a smile, his hand combing through her hair.
While the sight of Poe mouthing at her neck was very nice, he had to wonder where her limits were. "We can slow down if you want," he said, really speaking to both of them. "Go at whatever pace you're comfortable. I meant it, Rey. We're just so happy you're here."
Rey squeezes Finn’s hand, grateful that he was there. The attention Poe was laying on her, as intoxicating as it was—enough to make her let out a soft moan—she was still nervous. Still shy and unsure what they were doing. Finn picked up on her cues, and God, why did she want to run behind Finn? Maybe she knew deep down running would only make Poe want her all the more. He was very playful when he wanted to be—all of them were.
But, Rey did say she was different. She was different in how they remembered her and the memories she had were still few and far between.
“But I want to remember before...before we go to far,” she murmured, trying once more to pull away, moving more towards Finn.
“I’m not ready for it. I need time...” and she sounded so small when she said it, almost afraid of letting both men down.
Poe could take a cue, on occasion, and between the gentle warning in his husband’s voice - (He could practically hear Finn saying ‘you’re going to scare her off, Poe’ ) - and the way she pulled away from him, he managed to take the hint. It wasn’t making the arousal any better, though. It was like getting a taste of something he’d been craving but then it being pulled from his mouth before he could swallow.
Damn it. Damn it.
“We don’t have any interest in doing anything you don’t want,” he forced himself to say, forcibly pulling himself away from her and laying back on the grass. Damn it.
He was too relieved that she was willing to stay to force the issue, though. He could be patient. Probably.
Might require Finn taking the edge off, later, though.
“You’ll get your memories back. I’m sure of it.” He finally remembered the flower in his hand, and reached out to slide it behind her ear before pulling his hand away.
Finn squeezed her hand and gently wound his other around her waist, cradling her close. "It's okay," he murmured, pressing a much more chaste kiss to her neck. "Everything that's happened today- There's a lot to think about. We've already waited thousands of years just to see you. If you need time, we have patience."
Then his eyes flicked over to Poe. "Right?" Though he was sort of chastising, there was an amused tilt to his smile. Poe and patience never really mixed but he could be good for their Rey. It was just honestly amusing to watch him be good when he so clearly wanted.
For now, though- "Let's slow down, yeah? Do you have questions for us? Or anything you want to see?"
If Rey didn’t feel embarrass about her lack of experience, or at the very least felt more comfortable with both men, then this wouldn’t be an issue. She never had the chance to explore her own sexuality. Her focus was in school and getting into a good university—
Oh shit, her program! Did she still have to go to school? She wanted to continue her education. Finn’s kiss helped soothe her, but looking at Poe....he was wound up. Very wound up and part of her was hesitant to reach out, thinking her touch might aggravate him rather than soothe.
“Am I expected to give up my mortal life?” She asked in soft tones, finding it odd she was referring to her life as before as “mortal.”
“Things aren’t like how they were in the old days,” Poe replied, ignoring Finn’s knowing look. Yeah, yeah, he could be good!! He could. He was going to. Now that he wasn’t afraid of Rey leaving them completely.
“There aren’t a lot of people who worship us anymore. We used to get souls by the thousands every day- now a days we get maybe a few a year. We aren’t as bound to this realm as we used to be. So we spend a lot of time on the surface.”
Which explained the tight jeans he was wearing. Which were a little uncomfortable at the moment... he shifted a little to try to relieve some of that pressure, but kept his hands away from Rey, lest he just want to start kissing her again.
“So I don’t see why you can’t finish... whatever it was you were up to, up there. We have a house in Athens, you can always still stay with us.”
The first time they took her, so long ago, they had... nearly forced her to stay. Poe was determined to force her, anyway, but it didn't seem that she needed it. Their love for each other bloomed quickly and naturally.
Regardless, Finn wasn't up for insinuating a repeat, even if they did... just kidnap her... again...
Anyway- "We want to give you everything, not take things away. We only want your happiness." Well, it was the most important factor. Her companionship also meant a great deal. "No pomegranate unless you like the taste. But whatever you decide to do, we'd love to go with you."
It would explain a lot of things between the two of them. How they were on the surface, dressed in modern clothes. People had written stories about what the Gods would be like if they lived to modern times and hid out in the world of mortals as one of them. Now, Rey wouldn't have to wonder. She'd live it...which made her question if she was mortal, or godlike? In body that is...or if she would die? Again? That was something she could think about later.
So they weren't interested in taking anything away from her. Rather, they wanted to give, without strings attached....and what would happen once they found out about her life? Hopefully they wouldn't do anything rash.
"I actually live in London. I'm here for the study abroad program for the summer." Rey paused there, hoping her words would mean something to Poe and Finn. She didn't know if she would live in Athens? Or stay living in London? Granted, she had nothing to her name, so moving wouldn't be hard, but it was still a big decision for her.
"I've been living in a hostel--a place for students, but once the summer ends...I don't know? If you have visas you can come to London with me." Because she wasn't going to leave them behind. She wasn't going to part from them. If they weren't coming with her, then she'd figure out a way to stay in Athens--thinking like a mortal rather than a goddess.
"...and we are...the three of us? Lovers, I take it but...?" They may have to spell things out for her because, well, history books were clearly wrong about Hades and everything else at this point.
Poe at least knew enough about the surface to know what London was, though he assumed Visas were that currency he kept hearing about.
“Travel isn’t an issue,” he pointed out, a little confused about it. “I don’t mind London. There are enough museums with our names that there’s usually even a few worshippers around. But we can go there any time. We can go anywhere. All I have to do is build the stairs. As long as you don’t ask me to do it too often, I can take you anywhere you could possibly want.” If she wanted to go more than one place in a day, then yeah, he’d need a nap. “Easiest to places where we were or are worshipped - like that temple. Making stairs there is as easy as a knife through air. China’s harder.”
He pulled the flower from behind his ear, turning it in his fingers. Real proof that she was back. Real proof that she might stay...
“We are your husbands,” he murmured. “We still are. But there’s more to it for us than for mortals. We can feel each other, sometimes. Like ghosts of feelings that aren’t ours.”
They’d felt it, when she’d died. And then they felt the absence, which had been worse than any pain.
“Our hearts are eternally bound. Have been and always will be. You are ours and we are yours, even if you were to leave. We’d still be yours.”
Hostel? Visas? Finn did understand the explanation about being a student, though. She was training and learning under someone for something. What, he could only wonder. Rey had always been curious but also a self-learner. This whole thing was a little confusing for him, but he liked it. He liked seeing her curiosity continue to bloom.
"We can follow or you can come with us," he answered, pulling her hand up to kiss her knuckles. "Whatever you want.
"But you feel it, too, don't you? You feel us like we feel you. You must feel it." Her absence from before was something he didn't want to think about and would never have to again.
Rey was....really going to have to update her husbands' (she had husbands, wow) knowledge of the human.mortal realm and their customs. It would be interesting, trying to teach them about the world of those who worshiped them, and the world where she is/was worshiped? It would be an interesting adventure, that's for sure.
She shifted slightly, moving to sit up, and lean against Finn, feeling most comfortable with him at the moment. If only because she didn't want to rile Poe up further. But, Poe's abilities...that would make traveling very easy and less security to go through and the like.
"I felt alone, yes. I felt unloved growing up and I kept waiting for someone or people to come back to me." Them. She had been unconsciously waiting for them to find her, but they never came. Not that she blamed them. They didn't know, but she felt their absence deeper than anything else.
"I can feel you...both of you, but not as strongly? It's hard to explain." Like she was still learning, still growing accustomed to what was part of her for all this time.
"But I don't think I'd leave you...not unless I had to." that's what she had to surmise, because those close to her were protected. And these two were her husbands, her lovers, and people she wouldn't let go unless it was a life or death reason.
"It's still hard to process, but...it'll get there. Do you have questions for me?"
"You've never been unloved." There was an immediacy, a sharpness to his voice when he said that, and he sat up, pulling up a knee to his chest and resting his arm on it as he looked back at them. "Not for one second. Not since we laid eyes on you. Even when we were afraid you'd be gone forever, you've never been unloved."
Questions. He had a million and none at all, at the same time. He made a low, thoughtful sound, his hand drifting a little towards hers but stopping before they touched. Slow down, she'd said.
So slow the hell down, Poe, and give her space.
"I'm sorry I scared you," he said, a little roughly. It wasn't a question, but... it needed to be said, anyway. "I'd like to - see it. Your life, up there." Not a question either, but closer.
Finn wasn't sure that scared was the right word... Well, the whole kidnapping thing was scary, sure, but just now- He wasn't about to speak for Rey, though. His Poe just looked miserable despite their dream finally coming true.
Too much at once, like Finn said. He reached over just enough so his fingertips could reach Poe's hand. His other arm was happily tucked around Rey, securing her to him as his heart tried to stay locked down in his chest. She was leaning against him and it was all very emotional.
"I would, too," he joined in. Wasn't often they mingled with mortals. Though Rey wasn't one of them, it'd be nice to see from her most recent perspective. After all, they'd just walked into her life. Again.
Questions, though. He had heaps and piles and loads of questions. "What are you studying?" Good place to begin, he figured.
What he wanted to ask was what do you want? She must want for many things, and he wanted to give them all to her. All the material objects mortal coveted so much and all the experiences she desired. That might be too much to ask, though.
Rey was taken aback by Poe's immediate response. It was a knee-jerk reaction, but she didn't know. She didn't know she had people waiting for her. She didn't know she was wanted. It wasn't meant as a dig towards him, but it was a truth she carried with her all she life until today.
"It felt that way. I didn't know my parents, I didn't know you and Finn were looking for me. I was alone," she explained in softer tones, giving both of them a glimpse into the life she had before today. A life where she didn't have anyone to lean on. She wasn't going to explain all the details...not yet. Not unless they asked, or wanted more insight.
Thankfully, Finn asked something a bit more general, something that didn't have a harsh back story behind it.
"Computer engineering. I like making things, and it's a lucrative career." Which...may or may not be a thing anymore since she found them. Her eyes drifted down for a moment , chewing on her lower lip. It hurt to see Poe upset, and with Finn reaching out...she felt the need to reach out too.
"I accept your apology...and I'm sorry for making you upset. Could you come closer to us? Please?" Meet him half way. Go slow, but still give him the affection, the connection he wanted.
"I'm not upset," He replied, even though he was visibly hesitating. He didn't want to break this. Finn was so much better than he was when it came to anything gentle - he and Rey had always carved themselves into Poe's heart with their ability to be kind. He wasn't exactly kind. Friendly, sure. Charming, definitely. But he had a renowned temper and he never did anything by half.
He glanced at Finn as if checking to see if it was okay, and then edged back closer to them, lying back down and turning onto his side so he could watch them embrace. Still not close enough to touch, but it was better.
He wasn't going to ruin this. He refused. Even if it meant holding himself back for weeks or months or years until she felt comfortable with them again, he would force himself to do it.
"You make those machines they use now?"
Computers were fascinating to him but seemed to have sprung up out of no where. 50 years can feel like the blink of an eye, when you're several thousand years old. "What do you do with them?"
Finn settled just a little more as Poe came closer to them. He was far kinder than he believed himself to be, in Finn's eyes. Just his touch could be calming and electrifying all at once.
But scooting closer was a start, and Finn smiled about it.
Then he was slapped with this 'computer engineering' thing. He had discovered computers a few years ago now. He didn't know much about them other than how to search for things. It was a very handy encyclopedia, he thought.
But an engineer for computers... "That must be a lot of studying." To make the computer know so much, that is. And usually so accurate, too! "It must- I can't imagine anyone being finished making a single computer. I don't think I get it." He doesn't. "I'm so proud of you. That's amazing."
"Well...it's a bit more complex than just making the machine itself. There's a bunch of different programs that go along with it, and it's not just how the computer operates but the systems it uses and what supports those systems..." Rey trailed off for a moment, her mind becoming focused on explaining what what she meant, what she wanted to study and succeed in. Hearing Finn tell her he was proud of her made her heart swell and practically beat out of her chest.
She didn't hear those words often enough.
She adjusted the flower tucked behind her ear, making sure it was in a more secured position. Her face lit up talking about her major, the differences between a simple computer and what other functions and parts had to be involved in order for it to work properly. Very technical, very in-depth and possibly very geeky, and overwhelming to two Gods who could have anything they wanted.
Rey rambled on for another few minutes before she realized what she was doing and slowly trailed off again.
"Sorry...I didn't mean to go overboard like that." The young woman looked down sheepishly for a moment, biting the inside of her cheek .
"I know I tend to get carried away with things, but it's what I've been learning about since I was younger."
"Don't apologize," Poe replied. He'd spent the entire time watching her face light up as she spoke, a deep burning yearning in his chest. He could feel the echo of her body against him, mirroring where she lay against Finn, and he breathed it in deeply.
"Finn wasn't kidding. That's amazing. I had no idea that those machines were so complex. I was pretty impressed with the whole planes thing, but this just sounds on a different level completely."
He listened to her very intently. As much as Finn wanted to just zone out and watch Rey explain something she was so passionate about, he really did try to understand it. Unfortunately, this seemed really beyond him.
"I like listening to you explain things." Even though he didn't really understand the subject matter, she was really good at telling him about it. "You're beautiful when you're in your element. I guess that's more computers than plants these days."
Not that her passions have changed all that much, really.
"I'm sorry. We're, uh... a little behind, I guess. Modern technology has started leaving us behind in the last couple of centuries. Did you hear about mortals touching Earth's moon? I still can't believe it.
"But, really, we love listening to you. You're so passionate. It's... refreshing." So full of life. He'd nearly forgotten. Finn hugged her close without thinking, remembering when that life was snuffed out... He really wished he could stop thinking about that.
"Y-yeah, they are. It's one of the reasons why I wanted to go into them. It's always changing...and it would be a good job." Which...she may or may not have to do anymore, but something to dwell on later. At least both men didn't seem annoyed with her ramblings, and were trying to understand her.
Rey shook her head at Finn, turning slightly to look at him and ignoring the compliment he gave. She...always thought of herself as plain, but if she breathed it out loud, Finn and Poe would instantly dispute it and it might make Poe upset. The last thing she wanted.
"No, nothing to apologize for. Means we could visit museums together, learn and do different things.." Get them caught up if they wished. "I can't imagine you'd want to keep up with things since the accomplishments of mortals I probably less than what you can already do--but the moon landing was huge. It was a break through."
But, yeah, she'd have to get them caught up a little, technology wise. Assuming they'd want to. Not to the level that she was studying at, but basic things. If anything it would give them the chance to enjoy each other's company, and allow them to learn more about her and vice-versa.
"To be honest, I've always wanted to try gardening, but never had the time. It was either working or, studying, or working another job." Really, she didn't have much free time for herself, though that probably would change soon enough.
She turned her head back to Poe and tried to reach out to him with her hand.
"Please?" She wanted him to come closer. She wanted to hold his hand, or hold some part of him. She wanted that sense of togetherness again. She needed to get used to him again, one small step at a time.
“I could get us to the moon if I felt like it,” Poe interjected. It was impossible to tell if he was bluffing or bragging or joking or a mix of all three. He said it completely straight faced.
“You’ve got all the time in then universe, now. Whatever you want to do, you can do it. You can slow time down here, if you want to rest between excursions with the mortal world without wasting any time. You don’t have to worry about bending to the world anymore, Rey.”
He felt his heart thump heavily against his chest when she reached out, and he couldn’t help himself- taking her hand and threading his fingers between hers, squeezing tight.
Poe probably could get them to the moon but he wasn't a mortal strapped to a rocket either. Finn still thought the feat had been admirable enough and shot a teasing smirk at Poe. Especially when his lovers finally took hands again. He wasn't sure he could get happier than this.
"You can have anything you want. What you can't accomplish, we'll do it in your name. Anything." She was going to be spoiled. Finn was looking forward to it.
"But I would love to actually be able to keep up with the mortals for a change. They're interesting. I'd love to see more museums with you, too... You always did love to learn new things. I'm glad you still have that."
Rey stared at Poe in both awe and a bit of disbelief. Years of science classes told her that wasn't possible, considering the lack of oxygen on the moon, and the fact it was IN FRIGGIN' SPACE, but who was she to argue with him? She had to be open to it, otherwise they would continue to but heads.
She blinked rapidly, trying to wrap her head around that concept. That she wasn't a mortal, wasn't an ordinary human, but it didn't click in her mind. Even as Poe threaded their fingers together, squeezing her hand and made her feel complete again. Anything she wanted? There....there wasn't much she'd want after this. he had the two of them, she had her family, she had people who cared about her. What else could she possibly want?
"I don't need the world to bend to me..." Rey began, gently tugging Poe's hand to bring him closer to her and Finn. She squeezed his hand in return and touched the back of his hand to her cheek. Rey turned her head slightly, pressing a kiss to his fingers.
"I only need you two. That's all." She wasn't the same as before. She had an appreciation for the little things, and material things didn't interest her--not that they had back then, but even more so now.
"We could look into getting cell phones for us, a way to keep in touch or to take pictures, or use different apps." And a variety of other things too.
"We could do something tomorrow, the three of us...and I'd really like that tour, if you're still willing."
Great. Now he had to figure out how to get his lovers to the moon. He couldn't very well see the look on Rey's face and not take them to the moon, now could he??
She drew his hand to her lips and Poe felt his heart do a little lip, drawing closer as if incapable of escaping her gravity well. Gods, but he wanted to kiss her. He was so close - his lips parting slightly - but then he remembered the whole slow command and he stopped himself, tilting his chin so that instead his forehead just lightly bumped into the side of her head and then stayed there. He was so close that his breath was on her skin, but he resisted the urge to press his lips to it. It was intoxicating, being this close, and almost painfully bittersweet how badly he wanted to hold her and how much he had to hold himself back.
It only got worse.
I only need you two, she said, echoing words he'd said thousands of years ago without even realising it. When they were afraid that their union might bring the wrath of the other gods - that there might be 'rescues' to the underworld to come and bring Rey back to the light. He'd declared that it didn't matter - that if anyone tried to separate them, he'd burn the whole underworld to ash around them. That as long as they had each other, he would be whole.
And then she'd been torn from them.
He barely heard the talk about cell phones - though he vaguely knew what those were - he only came back out of his thoughts when she mentioned a tour.
Yes. Tour. Maybe she'd gain back more memories. Maybe then she'd want to be one with them again.
"Yes," he said, his voice strangely thick. "I'm still willing."

"What do you do with them?"
no subject
But scooting closer was a start, and Finn smiled about it.
Then he was slapped with this 'computer engineering' thing. He had discovered computers a few years ago now. He didn't know much about them other than how to search for things. It was a very handy encyclopedia, he thought.
But an engineer for computers... "That must be a lot of studying." To make the computer know so much, that is. And usually so accurate, too! "It must- I can't imagine anyone being finished making a single computer. I don't think I get it."
He doesn't."I'm so proud of you. That's amazing."no subject
"I know I tend to get carried away with things, but it's what I've been learning about since I was younger."
no subject
"Finn wasn't kidding. That's amazing. I had no idea that those machines were so complex. I was pretty impressed with the whole planes thing, but this just sounds on a different level completely."
no subject

He’d never been able to deny her.
“The world will bend to you.”

"We could do something tomorrow, the three of us...and I'd really like that tour, if you're still willing."
no subject
