He was hearing things, that’s all it was. That quiet waver in Finn’s voice, the anticipation... that was Poe’s imagination.

And yet, he squeezed Finn a little harder, pulling him a little closer. His heart could stop hammering any second now...

“... why don’t we order something in?” He murmured before he could stop himself.

Finn took a deep breath when Poe pulled him closer, his eyes fluttering closed for half a second only because he knew it wouldn't be seen at this angle. Oh, how easy it would be to pretend. To just believe this was always and had been always part of more.

It felt like it was. Finn swallowed. "Sounds good. What do you have... in mind...?"

Looking up at Poe was a bad idea. He could count every eyelash right now if he wanted to, but Poe's eyes alone were distracting, looking at him like that.

... He wasn't looking at him like anything, though. This was all in Finn's head. He should turn away. Or... wait until Poe did first... But he did clear his throat. "Whatever you want. I'm, uh, up for anything." Because this was normal and fine.

He felt almost drunk, his mind racing as it tried to convince him to both kiss Finn and stop looking atFinn at the same time. It was reading every tiny movement Finn made with likely 100x more intention that there actually was.

He felt like his heart was about to tear in two.

“Anything?” He asked, unable to keep the husky Hope from his voice.

It was too late. Part of him had already decided what to do as soon as Finn looked up at him like that. The delay was just the rest of him catching up. He leaned in, a fraction of an inch, breath hitching as he paused. He wanted to give Finn a chance to stop him, but not enough of one to smash his hearts to pieces first.

So he leaned in, the tension between them thick, and then finally he was leaning the rest of the way and placing a very careful, very chaste kiss upon those soft, perfect lips.

Finn couldn't believe it was happening while Poe was leaning in. He couldn't believe it when he was... being kissed. He couldn't believe this.

He froze, unbreathing, eyes wide. He couldn't believe it so much that processing the feeling of Poe's lips pressing against his was nearly impossible.

This could not be happening.

Though once he realized that something certainly was, he pressed in just a tiny bit, just enough to feel it and remind himself that this was- this- this was happening?

It didn’t last long.

Poe felt Finn freeze and immediately a cold chill washed over him. Idiot. Idiot, idiot, idiot. Reading what you want to in a situation and not what’s actually there.

He inwardly cursed himself, drawing back before he realised Finn was pressing in.

“Sorry,” he murmured quickly, “sorry, Finn, I should’ve—“

He nearly fell right over once Poe pulled away, but caught himself. "You kissed me," was the first thing he said with eyes wide and hope filling his chest.

Poe just kissed him. Just like that.

... Wait, why was he apologizing?

Poe immediately read the wide eyes as shock and inwardly grimaced.

“I, uh—- yeah. I did. I’m sorry, I should have asked, I just—-“

He felt like a complete idiot and quickly started detangling himself.

“... couldn’t help it...”

Couldn't help it. Poe Dameron saying he couldn't help it. This couldn't be real. He was dreaming. Right?

But Poe was moving away and Finn couldn't have that. He reached out, grabbing Poe's shirt, hand confused of it should be on his arm, neck, cheek-

"I'm ready now." A lie. He'd never be ready. But he leaned closer anyway, unsure what was happening but not wanting to let this go so soon. "We can... try again?"

This wasn't desperate, right? Right?

His heart was pounding already, and as Finn continued, Poe was half worried he’d have a heart attack.

“Yeah,” he whispered, trying not to seem overeager. But then he was leaning in, a slight tremble in his spine as he pressed a careful, searching kiss to Finn’s lips.

His breath was quickly stolen away like before, but at least he replied this time. He wanted the feeling of Poe's lips on his to be left there forever,so he pressed back to just and closed his eyes to just try and feel more.

There was no technique, nothing fancy or dating or anything to show off. He just kissed him and prayed to anything listening that this was real.

Finn’s lips were softer than he’d ever thought possible, and the quiet, careful kiss was so tender it made his fingers tingle and his heart ache. He could barely believe it was happening.

His arm around Finn’s shoulders tightened, drawing him closer, and Poe’s lips slowly and quietly parted just so he could get the smallest taste—

Finn's heart leapt into his throat when Poe parted his lips. He did the same, mirroring the act.

But it was so unbelievable, so electrifying, that he let out a sharp, quiet gasp from the back of his throat. His hand clenched harder into Poe's shirt, his mind so far away from the act that he might as well be floating.

Oh, fuck. Did Finn have to make a sound like that?

He swore his heart was pounding so hard it might just break right out of his rib cage.

The kiss was light enough that he didn’t need to break it in order to breath, drawing in a long, shuddering sigh, before leaning closer, lips parted as he slowly deepened the kiss.

Finn tilted his head and leaned closer until there was no air between them at all. His hand loosened from his shirt and snaked around to the back of his head, lightly running his fingers through Poe's soft curly hair. He knew what it felt like, had idly played with it before when they were close enough to pretend, but everything was so very different now.

His other hand was somewhere along Poe's side, and Finn had practically fallen into him at this point. He was drowning in it, not very aware of himself besides wanting to feel more of Poe now that he finally had the chance.

There was no way he was going to be able to play off this kiss as casual, or a joke. He groaned quietly into Finn's mouth - hyper aware of everywhere their bodies touched, a low throb of arousal pooling in his groin.

His arm around Finn's shoulders kept its tight grip, but he raised the other hand to cup Finn's jaw gently, tilting his head a little to fit their mouths together better as he slid his tongue in, casual but claiming.

There was no going back, from this, and he knew it. But he didn't want to go back, anyway.

Finn was hardly aware of much other than Poe's lips against his and every little thing his tongue was getting up to. He scratched against Poe's scalp, moaning without even realizing. Even the sounds Poe was making drove him just a little crazier, everything pushing him a little further.

All he wanted was to be closer. He deepened the kiss a little more, his heart pounding in his throat, then his whole body moved to basically straddle him. He was in Poe's lap before he noticed, but it felt like such a smooth, easy gesture that it was probably where this was headed the whole time.

Suddenly Finn was straddling him, and Poe was having to tense his muscles and angle his hips away just to keep himself from grinding his now fully hard cock up against his roommate. Okay. Okay? Finn peeled himself off to find that he was in Poe's lap. His face flushed. He... had definitely done that. Was it wrong? Was it too fast? That was way too fast, right?

"Sorry," he said before even hearing the question. Then he blinked. "No? This is, um... a little more than... uh-"

Poe Dameron kissed him! Brilliant, beautiful Poe kissed him and now Finn was in his lap. This was way too much. And now he was being asked if he was- "I wasn't teasing, no." And he was still on top of him!! "Sorry," he said again, trying to reluctantly untangle himself.

"No!" He caught Finn's wrist before the man could pull away, and gently tugged him back down into his lap.

"That wasn't a complaint," He continued, a hopeful grin on his lips. "I just... ah... We're on the same page, right? Because as happy as I'd be to- I mean, if you just need to blow off some steam, I'm happy to help, but-- I'd ah, rather know that. Now. Before I get way too invested."

Who was he kidding? He was already way too invested.

He was still having trouble believing that Poe kissed him, Finn's mind had refused to think much further than that. Maybe he had a little and maybe he hoped a little more, but that didn't mean he believed it.

Yet here Poe was, talking about blowing off steam or getting invested, and all Finn could do was stare and blink. It was a terrifying thing, to put one's heart in the line of fire, and yet-

"I've had a crush on you since the moment we met."

Was it hot in here? He was burning up. His ears were going to catch fire at any moment. What if Poe didn't feel that way? What if he was just trying to find the line in the sand? What if Finn just made him uncomfortable and ruined this whole thing?

Poe's grin spread a little wider, until it was almost hurting his face.

Okay. He needed something really fucking smooth to say in reply to that, but his heart felt like it was running a marathon and Finn was super fucking cute right now, and:

"Oh," he said. Epic. He wet his lips but couldn't stop grinning.

"Cool."

Moron? He was a moron. And he knew he was looking stupid with that grin on his face but he couldn't stop. He reached up, sliding a hand behind Finn's head, and guided him back down to take a soft kiss.

"Me too."

Finn would probably think he was being lied to if it weren't for that gigantic grin splitting Poe's face. And the fact that Poe was literally the nicest, sweetest guy around who would never do something so cruel, but-

"Really?" he asked in a breath, definitely having a hard time believing that one, but was easily distracted by Poe's lips again. He took a short, hard kiss just because-... well, because he felt like it. This was amazing, and he didn't want to stop kissing Poe right now.

“Yeah.”

Maybe later he’d have the brain capacity to wax poetic about it, but right now all he could feel was an utter and profound relief as he arched up to steal another kiss. Then another.

He wondered, vaguely, if maybe he was dreaming. This was too easy, right?

He wrapped an arm around Finn’s waist and pulled him back down flush against him as he deepened the kiss.

“Really,” he murmured against the man’s lips.

That wasn't a whimper that just fell out of Finn's mouth. Another gasp maybe? A sharp moan?

"I'm dreaming," he muttered to himself because that was the only real explanation. Psychology had bored him right into a nap and the sweetest dream his mind could come up with.

But if this wasn't a dream, then he just said that out loud. He quickly kissed Poe again to either make good on this dream or make him forget how awkward he was for another minute or so. His body pressed down into Poe's, but he couldn't justify going much further than that right now.

Poe chuckled when he realised that Finn has said that out loud and it wasn’t just his own thoughts rattling in his head.

“Well, if I am, it’s a hell of a dream,” he whispered quietly, groaning low as Finn pressed down into him.

Fuck, he was going to embarrass himself. He hadn’t slept with anyone since highschool - hadn’t had more than a few anonymous make outs in a gay bar a city over. Now Finn was on top of him and his labido was kicking into over drive. There was no way that Finn would be able to mistake the fact that he was rock hard just from a little kissing. Damn, he was repressed—
