“Hey,” Poe said, his voice low and soft as he raised his hands to cup Finn’s face and try to get him calm and breathing again. It was taking a little while for the meaning of Finn’s words to sink in past Poe’s concern for him.

His heart fluttered as the first stirrings of understanding took hold in his mind.

I feel everything that you feel—

“Finn, hey, you need to breathe, alright? You’re not breathing. Just— we’ll get you somewhere quiet, okay?”

Somewhere quiet sounded amazing, but it wasn't really everyone else that was making him feel like he was overflowing. He was reasonably certain everything he felt was coming from Poe.

Finn didn't respond. He stared at him for a moment, kind of suddenly more desperate to kiss him than usual. He wanted to thank Poe for remembering him, for loving him like this, more than he thought anyone ever would.

He couldn't do anything about it. Poe felt this all the time and did nothing. There were reasons for that. Finn choked back a sob, not entirely sure where it was coming from, but he leaned in to hug Poe tightly again and hide his tears in his shoulder.

He hugged back, his heart aching in sympathy and worry and — well. Something he couldn’t quite put his finger on. He raised a hand and threaded fingers into that shirt cropped hair and tried to will his heart to still.

Was this his fault? Was he making everything worse because Finn could feel how he felt about him?

He swallowed, thickly, and brushed the barest hint of a kiss against Finn’s cheekbones. “It’s okay. It’s alright, Finn. We just need to get you home.”

He could feel the worry almost as sharply as he felt that kiss. "I'm okay. I'm all right," he tried to reassure, unaware he was just repeating Poe. His hand trailed into his hair, too, but he had to pull away from him again if only enough to see him.

"Poe, I'm okay. I'm fine. It's just- I'm all right. I'm all right." Deep breaths. Try to shove it all away. It was hard to do, practically breathing the same air as Poe. "I- I'm sorry. I can't control it. It's-... I know I'm intruding. I'm sorry. I can't stop it." He shouldn't be feeling this. It wasn't his to know about. He furiously rubbed away his tears. "I never- I didn't think you- I didn't think anyone felt-... Sorry."

“Finn I literally have a power I can’t control that makes people blurt secrets at me all the time,” he murmured quietly, eyes searching Finn’s face.

He wasn’t really understanding what Finn was getting at, his attention too focused on trying to get him to calm down.

“It’s okay. It’s alright. There’s nothing I want to hide from you, okay? It’s okay for you to know.” He wasn’t even totally sure what Finn was picking up - since his own emotions were like a far too advanced puzzle sometimes. He didn’t always manage to figure out what he was feeling by himself.

Poe did have that power, that's true. Actually did make Finn feel a little better about this.

But his worry didn't abate, probably because a lot of it was still Poe's. Yet, he also knew that Poe was being nothing but honest with him. "I just... didn't know you like this. About me." He was blushing just saying it aloud, but the tears were coming to a slow stop at least.

It took several seconds for Poe to process that. Not because he didn’t hear it. He did. But because it made absolutely no sense to him once he had.

“... I thought you knew,” he murmured, his brow twitching lower, eyes searching Finn’s face.

They’d talked about this, hadn’t they? Finn knew that Poe was still in love with him.

He didn’t think that was ever going to change.

But then Finn’s earlier words started filtering in, too, and something gripped Poe’s chest. He leaned forward, the urge to kiss Finn getting stronger by the second. He held back at the last second, pressing his forehead against the other man’s, instead, his hands still on either side of Finn’s face, thumbs gently carressing his cheeks.

His heart throbbed, a longing ache travelling right to his fingertips.

How could Finn not know?

How could Finn expect any less?

“I love you, Finn,” he whispered, the words pulled from him against his own volition. But he didn’t try to stop them. “I’ll always love you.”

He... knew, sort of. He knew that Poe told him as much, knew they used to be an item, but that was as far as things had gone. Poe had other people. Even without 622, he had plenty of others.

All these emotions, though, all this love- It made Finn feel special in a way he hadn't before. A really good way.

He wanted to kiss him so badly. Can't do that. Shouldn't do that. But his mouth had to do something. "I love you," is what finally fell out. "I love you, too. I love you so much. I didn't know you felt this way. I should've- I love you. I love you."

Poe was, at the end of the day, a weak man. A good man - at least as far as he was able - but a weak one. A stronger man would have been able to hear that confession and appear unmoved by it. Or, at the least, take it in without giving in to rash impulse.

But since when had Poe ever been any good at avoiding rash impulse?

Finn barely had the last word out before Poe was suddenly pressing forward, taking Finn’s lips in his own and giving in to the kiss he’d been avoiding for months.

Nothing in the universe had ever tasted so sweet.

Finn's words caught in his throat, his breath hitching and eyebrows shooting up at the sudden kiss. He could feel everything that it made Poe feel, all of the relief and longing and-

His hands flew to either side of Poe's jaw and his lips parted for the kiss, trying to pull them closer together and think about nothing of the outside world. Poe's feelings- His own feelings were almost too much to bear, but he couldn't let himself pull away. He wanted to be overwhelmed by them.

Ignoring the outside world was far too easy, all things considered. Perhaps Poe should be more worried, perhaps he should feel guilty, but... he didn’t. Finn’s lips parting under his felt like an invitation he’d been waiting months to recieve, and he groaned into the man’s mouth as he pressed closer, wrapping an arm around Finn’s waist and deepening the kiss as he was invited.

He’d missed this so much he felt near to bursting.

Finn felt like he was bursting. His hands dug into Poe's clothes, twisting his head to the side and pulling their bodies flush together. He couldn't get enough of this. Intoxicating was hardly a good enough word for it.

And all this love. The unconditional love just rolling off of Poe was- was- He wasn't very aware of it, but Finn was definitely crying into the kiss.

Poe, unfortunately, was quickly very aware of it - first by the salty taste of Finn's tears and then by the wetness growing on his own cheeks just from the transfer.

He pulled himself back and out of the kiss, as he had no empathy powers and thus no real way to know that he wasn't doing something horribly, horribly wrong.

"--Finn?" He asked, quickly searching the man's face. He let his thumb brush back another tear. "Hey-- Hey, it's okay, we're okay--"

There was something else in the mix now. Something a lot more bitter and sad. Concern or something. It wasn't as good as what he had just a moment ago.

"I know," he said with a little nod, voice lower than before. "It's okay. I know." He pressed his lips to Poe again, not really feeling like he could help it. He just wanted it to feel okay again.

The concern lingered, but it never quite overcame the relief - especially not when Finn kissed him. It gave him a strong surge of longing, instead, and he couldn't help but return it, deepening it if Finn left him.

He'd wanted this so badly for so long.

Finn let him. Actually, Poe would have a tough time beating him to it. That longing and sheer relief coming from Poe were intoxicating even if he still wanted to blot out that thread of concern.

He moaned into the kiss but finally pulled away just enough to breathe, foreheads still touching. "Maybe... we should go somewhere else..."

Poe felt his heart flutter, and he swallowed. Did Finn mean what he thought he did?

... Should he be hoping this hard that he was?

"Right, yeah," He said quickly, pressing another kiss to Finn's lips. "Let me grab the carpet. We can go home."

Finn wasn't entirely sure what he was suggesting. He just wanted to be somewhere much quieter and calmer with Poe still pressed against him. Maybe then he could breathe.

Getting started was proving to be difficult, though. He kissed Poe again just as he tried to move from him. Addicted couldn't describe this. But he did at least try to make himself back off. "Carpet. Yeah. Yeah, let's go home."

A rush of giddiness filled him when Finn stole that kiss, and he rolled up his carpet in record time to return to Finn's side, reaching out and taking his hand.

Spoke to something, maybe, that he'd rather teleport than fly, right now.

"Ready."

The moment that Poe was gone was... a little relieving? He missed the warmth, but it's absence left room to breathe. That is until Poe returns and his breath is swept away all over again.

It would be better for him, physically, to separate from all this emotion and try to compose himself. Instead, he grabs Poe's hand and hoists himself on to the carpet, latching on to him like he might vanish. (And also because of that time they fell, remember that?)

"Ready."

The closeness makes that giddiness returns, and he's leaning in to steal a hard kiss before he can stop himself.

The carpet raises a couple feet off the ground, hovering.

"If you want to get home real fast, I'm not going to complain," He murmured before stealing another kiss.

Finn shakes his head and takes another kiss. "Just want to be alone with you. Away from... all the noise."

There isn't any noise except for the constant static in Finn's head. He can hear everyone, and it's driving him crazy. Focusing on Poe alone is much more preferable, but he knows that even that's a little too much. "Away from other people."

"Right. Well - Okay, that I can do." He loops an arm snuggly around Finn's waist, and they start rising into the air quite a bit faster. But rather than head toward the porter, Poe starts flying them out toward the ocean.

It's not even that far, at this speed, and once they hit the beach, he just keeps going.

It's not even clear where he's heading until they spot a low island - surrounded by white sand, with only a few sparce trees and rocks. It barely rises out of the ocean, and it's far too small for anyone to live there. But there isn't a soul in sight.

The further away from civilization they got, the more his mind quieted, zeroing down to the one source of such strong emotions right in front of him.

"Thank you," he breathed, opening his eyes to take the island in but only looking at Poe. Who loved him so much. Who was so relieved to see him. "How long have you felt this way?"

“What do you mean?” He asked, as he hadn’t been the one having to field that onslaught of emotion this whole time, and had kind of forgotten what they were talking about.

It hit him a second later, though, and he felt his cheeks warm with a flush of embarrassment.

“I don’t know. Since you arrived back on D’qar with BB-8 in tow, maybe.”

He flew right down and landed gently on the sand.
