Finn's chest constricted at the gentle kiss, his brow furrowing as he forced out a little laugh. This wasn't a big deal, right?

"How?" His free hand found the side of Poe's neck, thumb tracing his jaw. "You have nothing to apologize or make up for. Besides, you're here now. What more could I want?"

"I can think of at least one thing, maybe," Poe replied, his voice low with just the barest twitch of a smile at the edge of his lips.

Then he leaned in and stole the sweetest, gentlest kiss he could manage.

Okay, Poe made a good argument.

Finn's breath hitched into the kiss before he sighed and tried to press back. It was so soft, he was scared to do anything, worried he'd somehow break the moment.

It was nothing like the first kiss they'd shared back home - heated in the midst of an argument. The softness almost gave Poe a strange kind of nervousness - an electricity that ran through his veins and made the tips of his fingers tingle. He reached out, gently touching the side of Finn's neck as he pressed closer, lips parting to slowly and deliberately deepen the kiss.

Trying to stay slow felt like he was fighting against a riptide - where everything in him just wanted to surge forward - but he was determined to do this right.

He was determined to burn this moment into both their minds forever.

This was so out of his jurisdiction. Finn didn't know what to do. While one hand remained on Poe's jaw, the other hovered near his neck, not sure where to go.

Thankfully, his mind was nearly blank from this kiss. He'd considered what this would feel like before (of course, he had) but this had none of that rushed urgency he'd imagined. This was slow and... loving. It was loving, and he had no idea how to respond correctly, no idea how to show Poe he felt the same way.

A quiet moan escaped him followed by a sigh, his lips working in a mirror to Poe's.

That quiet moan made a shiver run straight down Poe's spine, a hot pulse surge in his blood that he tried desperate to ignore.

Eventually, though, he had to come up for air, and he pulled away from Finn's lips, hand still resting against the man's throat as he pulled back far enough to be able to focus on his face.

"Well?"

Well, what? Finn had no idea what they were talking about before that kiss. Barely remembered the island before he opened his eyes again, which was a bit belatedly. His lips were still parted, gaze on Poe's mouth for a moment before looking up to him fully.

He blinked. Right. There was a question. "Good. That was-..." Instead of trying to give it a voice, he put a hand on the back of Poe's neck and pulled him in for a firmer kiss, one he actually knew. But he pulled away quickly, that kiss not being enough to even show him. "That was really good," he repeated, licking his lips and smiling.

Poe grinned as soon as he was released, all thoughts of food or sandwiches or even birds forgotten.

"Good," He replied, that grin turning a little wicked as he shifted closer, ducking in to take a quick, brief kiss. "Think I might just keep doing it, then," he teased quietly, before taking a longer, firmer kiss - pressing close as his lips parted, deepening the kiss and indulging in exactly what he'd been craving for weeks.

Finn immediately moaned into it, just letting himself be kissed for a moment. Finally, he came back to himself and started returning it, gripping at Poe's clothes to pull him closer.

He still didn't really know what he was doing, though, not sure how he could make Poe feel whatever he was feeling. There weren't really words for it, he didn't think. Whatever it was, his other gripped the back of Poe's neck before slowly leaning back, pulling the other man over him.

He followed. Of course he followed. Even without the anchor of Finn’s hand on his neck he would have followed, desperate for another taste of those lips now that he’d had one.

He leaned over Finn, pressing the man down against the carpet, glad that he decided to land on the grass and not the bare rock, but less glad that he’d decided to come here rather than just immediately take Finn to his bedroom.

He was still fairly sure he made the right call, though.

He groaned softly against Finn’s mouth, his body leaning in far enough to press weight to Finn’s chest. His heart was going a mile a minute. He forced himself to break the kiss for a second, even though he couldn’t bring himself to pull away, murmuring words agains Finn’s lips instead.

“This is way better than hurried kisses in a maintenance closet..”

When Finn's back hit the carpet and Poe's weight settled on him, his heart felt like it was going push right out of his throat. Surely, Poe could hear it. Why was he even nervous, though? Wait, was he nervous?

But it was pushed away but a sudden laugh that escaped him. "That has its merits, too," he mumbled, leaning back up into another deep kiss. He looked forward to this adventure in a maintenance closet, hoping it managed to cool Poe down from hotshot antics. He looked forward to all of it, actually, all of the parts he hadn't been told of yet.

His hands moved down Poe's back, pressing them closer. They should slow down, though, right? It was still new. But he wasn't doing much to stop.

It wasn't new to Poe. Doubly, now, as he'd fallen just as hard for Finn back home as he had here. This was his third time, really, though it was hard to count it that way. It felt more like an inevitable continuum. Like they were meant to be here, regardless of any other factors.

And Force, but Poe wanted to be there.

He rested a hand on Finn's chest, his body lined up solidly against the other man, his weight leaning on him. He could feel Finn's heart beating even through fabric, his finger tips tingling with it. Just as fast as his own. He smiled despite himself and tilted his head when he broke off the kiss, pressing warm lips to Finn's jaw and then his throat, letting them part so he could taste skin.

He really should slow down. But he wasn't doing much to stop.

Another moan left him, his head tilting up to give Poe more room. There wasn't much he could to reciprocate, but his mind kept coming up with increasingly creative scenarios that he could repay Poe in kind with.

Instead, one hand found its way beneath Poe's shirt, palm pressing against the small of his back. Finn didn't try anything else. All he wanted was to feel warm skin against him right now. His other hand, though, buried deep into Poe's curls, trying to encourage him.

In the end, both hands served as ample encouragement. A shiver traced rice up his spine, racing from one hand to the other, and Poe sighed softly against the soft skin of Finn's throat.

"Should have just taken you home," he murmured lowly, his voice taking a husky edge as his hand pressed firmly against Finn's chest. He teased and nipped at Finn's throat, nuzzling in against him, soft curls brushing the side of Finn's face.

Finn pouted and whined, eyes still closed. "I like the island." Still needs to be romanced, Poe, geez! As soon as it's out of his mouth, though, Finn laughed at himself.

But it was cut off quickly. Something Poe did, some sensitive place his teeth found, made him moan again and arch into him. That surely wouldn't calm things down, he thought distantly.

The sound sent a pulse of hot blood straight to Poe’s groin. The decision was made for him, right in that moment. He wasn’t going to be able to resist it. It was going to happen right here. He was going to make love to Finn right here, on an island, under a huge blue sky and a much smaller blanket.

He groaned, immediately trying to replicate whatever he had done to get Finn to arch like that, his hand sliding lower on the man’s chest, fingertips coming to a stop just before they touched Finn’s belt.

“Yeah,” he whispered, teeth finding Finn’s earlobe and sucking gently. “I like this island too.”

Poe's voice sounded like a soothing white noise rather than a language right now, the meaning coming across belatedly. Finn was far too distracted with every move the man on top of him made.

His breathing was labored, heart pounding harder as Poe's hand moved lower. Then his back was arching again with another moan, hips brushing against him for any friction at all.

They needed to slow up, cool off. As badly as Finn wanted him, he didn't want to screw things up by moving too fast. Did that even apply to this situation, though, as unique as this was? All he could think about was keeping Poe next to him like this for good, not having a one-off. No matter how good it was, it wouldn't be worth it if they just crashed and burned.

"You sure?" he asked, hand gliding across Poe's skin and further up his back. And no, Finn wasn't referring to the island. If Poe wanted this, then it was going to be okay. "I want you. I just... want you." The meaning probably didn't go across as clearly as he would have liked.

"Yeah," He murmured, though he braced himself on one arm, pushing himself up so that he could actually see Finn's face and talk to him. His own had a slight flush, his lips parted, eyes half lidded. "I want you, too."

There was no doubt in the world that he wanted to be wherever Finn was, right now. It could be snowing, and he wouldn't care.

"I'm sure." But that was only half the equation, wasn't it. "... You sure?"

"Yes," was out in the air before he could pause and think. The answer was the same, though. Poe thought they would be fine, then they'll be fine. After all, he had to wonder how far they went in that maintenance closet.

"I'm sure." Instead of tugging Poe back down, Finn pushed up to meet him, sealing the implied promise with a deep, brief kiss. "I- I love you, you know," he murmured against his lips. Poe probably knew that, but Finn needed to say it.

It made his heart ache, too full with love, and he smiled into the kiss as he returned it, pressing Finn back down against the carpet as he deepened the kiss. After a moment he finally released it.

"... I know," he murmured, his chest so full it felt ready to burst. He let his fingers tug up the edge of Finn's shirt, then slide warmly over bare skin once it was revealed.

"I love you too, Finn," he whispered quietly. "More than I could ever explain."

His gasp was shallow, quiet. It wasn't that he was surprised, except he was? It was just surprising to hear it like this.

He didn't know what to say in response, certainly nothing that was good enough, so he kissed Poe's jaw instead. Finn busied his mouth by moving over to his ear and nipping, his back arching to push them closer together and hands roaming to ruck up Poe's shirt to his chest.

His eyes fluttered closed, neck tilting to give Finn better access to his ear, his head hammering hard. He let his hand wander further up the man’s chest, fingers spreading over skin as he hiked the fabric up further. But he didn’t go quite so far as to pull the shirt off. Instead he shifted, leaning down to press a kiss to Finn’s sternum, and then another a little lower.

Slowly kissing a trail down Finn’s chest.

His breathing was labored again, chest rising and falling with every kiss Poe saw fit to give him. He arched again, stretching beneath him, his legs falling open on instinct.

There wasn't much else he could do like this except enjoy how Poe made him feel, moaning quietly every time his lips found something sensitive. Finn's hands, though, were still beneath Poe's shirt, running along his back and ribs, seeking more.

He didn't get all the way down - not wanting to shift his position too much - so his lips eventually trailed back up, kissing every rib, until they found the dark nub of Finn's nipple. He flicked it with his tongue and then gently sucked on it as his fingers searched lower.

Finally, they found the clasp of Finn's trousers, and pausing for a few seconds - waiting in case Finn said no - he slid the button free and carefully pulled the fly open.

Finn certainly wasn't saying no. His breath shuddered through his lungs, hands shaking as they gently pulled against Poe's hair. It was the slowness of their movements coupled with how familiar Poe seemed to be with Finn's body. It was driving him crazy.

His hips slightly arched up into Poe's hand, asking for more, while his head dipped down to kiss the tips of his ears and anything else he could reach.
